Family, I will try to make the game. Maybe I'll put on some sweats and take my pad & pencil. It's a new year! >Who worked over the summer? >Who is next? >Who will ball right away? >Do we have a 'Sparrow or a Binion'? >Do we have someone who can "freak" on the court during the fast break? >Do we have anyone with some razzle -dazzle that can set Coleman up for a few dunks?
Whew! It's time to see the squad. Man I cant wait to see Corbett rocking this year!
> I still smile to my-self whenever I think about Rush vs WSSU.

PJ, It's hard to get information on the mens basketball team so please take that pad and pencil and let us know something! I'm starving for any kind of news on these guys and a write up would be appreciated.

Dido that. It's great to see and hear all the 2010 recruitment efforts but we have not seen alot on the 09 team .
PJ add this to your list: * Did the redshirt year help Porter ?

Yo thanks everyone. Thrilla has the previews, they are forthcoming. They were done in the Blind. I hope they help a little. I need to see who has a 'handle' & who is 'green'. Thrilla is digging in on them. The Brother has editing duties and code duties for the Dawg/Blue Death/and my Blog. I know He's strung out. Fam, It looks like next week.
I will do a breakdown on the game/players. and thanks Frisco, I will check Porter's progress.
'Funk's gettin' ready to roll' !! I know that this is wishful thinking but, I would like to see an 'above the rim' game from somebody! If that word gets around then Corbett will be hot!

I wish we had a Sparrow and A Binion, back in those days if you didn't get to the gym a hour early you where standing on the rails allnight!

bseball, yea....the gym was electric! i just remember treking to the gym in the 'hawk' and the heat & funk hittin me in the face for a few seconds. We need somebody that can freak! There is nothing like someone who can dribble in traffic, or pass in traffic!
Well I'm in town. I feel so good. Its time for the look. I'm heading to the gym.

Blue & Gold: With my own eyes: We will contend for the title. We may look good at times.
Offensively: We will run and gun, remember Hank Gathers R.I.P., w/ Loyola Marymount, and them? In that if you got tired with the lead, they would make a run on you or just blow you out? This team will do the same. Think of Rush vs WSSU in Corbett. Some will look like bad shots. Some will be bad shots, but try not to freak out. A team like DSU, once they get behind, will get out of character. Like NSU in Corbett last year. Deloach ended up trying to do it alone.
Defensively: We will pick up 3/4 court or full court most of the time. We will get many turnovers again this year. We will make some teams look raggedy. (Somewhat like Beatdown Unlim. vs some teams). 1 & 2 turnovers at a time.
Eaves is developing some “stoppers” for the Deloaches/NSU of the world. He has about three Stacy Augman type brothers that will help Coleman break the Blocks record again. Coleman had about 5 blocks during the Blue & Gold. D Upchurch is like a young Jordan. I said young. He can get up and will get some blocks & dunks.
D. Joshua look good. He has worked on his game. He is making his shots. He is good in traffic, and he has that Reggie Miller type IQ that will get a foul called on you. He will have a big year.
T. Alston was sick with the flu & still played well. He hit his shots when needed and pushed the ball. Sometimes he gets too deep in the lane, and I wish that he would use a ‘floater’ or a ‘jump stop’ a bit more, until the bigs get their bearing with his tendencies. On the other hand the opposition (players on the team), in this game, has seen him play every day, so they had an edge on someone who is in the blind.
M. Hill is still fast. He is wiser. He has a ‘jump stop’ move in the lane. The Brother has worked on his shot, he hardly missed. He recognizes the trap. Eaves have this brother going in the right direction.
R. Johnson will be the key. He has a good shot and can slash to the hoop. He will be needed. If he takes his man off the dribble Coleman will have great year rebounding. All of the shooters will have good looks because of Rob.
Brock Moorman looks comfortable. He does the little things. He can be a ‘stopper.’ He can hit the jumper, and rebound. He can run the break. I don’t know how things will pan out but he is better.
James Porter is the sleeper. He mixed it up nicely and hit his free-throws. I don’t know if he will be the enforcer. He needs to make his first foul Hard, and look the guy in the eye. Coleman will block the next shot after a pump fake. Porter looks better. He needs to just go to the hoop whenever the window opens and let Coleman rebound if he misses. They battled nicely.
Where are we? Man this team will win the MEAC. I know that I’m on the ‘Aggie Juice’ but think about last years team. They won Feb., and sometimes it seems that the game was a little sloppy because of our turnovers & because of the turnovers that we caused. But guess what, they were still in the hunt. I cant wait to see how we do during that early road stretch.
I like this team.

This is the best I have felt about the men's team in about 10 years. They have some offensive weapons and some depth - except at the 5 position.
I am not sure about Eaves' run and gun philosophy, because on those off nights it could get real ugly. But regardless, I think this will be a fun team to watch this season.

Yea the run and gun could be scary on an off night; however, if you really have a bench its a little less of a concern.
I would assume they work in practice some on a half court game in case they need to protect a lead.

I would assume they work in practice some on a half court game in case they need to protect a lead. Yea Frisco, I cant speak for them but I do remember few sets wherein they would have 3 men screening at the FT line for the ball handler, & a high screen set like the NBA. The former gave T Alston & Coleman a litte of a two man game late last year. Coleman just has to make a big man move and pressure the defense. ====== Im making plans to head to the 'boro for the fri game. I'm serious, the brothers were knocking down shots. As opposed to one seeing the team an thinking 'man, they cant shoot'.
