1) Naming rights to the largest outdoor sports venue in the city of Greensboro and the second largest outdoor sports venue in the entire Triad.
2) A chance to market their product to college-aged and middle class African Americans.
3) A chance to have their named mentioned whenever A&T football is discussed on the TV and radio stations and in newspapers and magazines (i.e. numerous times).
4) Use of a fully stocked, 10-person capacity luxury suite for all events held at the stadium (football or otherwise).
5) Exclusive "chalk talk" sessions featuring Coach Fobbs speaking to a select number of corporate VIPS a few times each year, in which he discusses the intracacies of college football and war stories from his 30-year career
6) A chance to have major adverstising opportunities in other places around campus (i.e ceiling banners in McNair, Price and new science building.
7) Appearances by star players and members of the A&T coaching staff at a set number of your corporate functions each year.
These are just a few ideas....

Those are some good ideas. I'd be ecstatic if they passed the number crunchers at the corporations in question. I think that selling point might get six figures from a major corporation, and that's if there are Aggies in key positions at the corporation.

That's what I was thinking. There's probably not anybody under 40 on this website that hasn't worked there or known a few people that worked there.

Naming rights would also help them maintain their marketshare in the area now that Fedex is building a hub in Greensboro.

Or let them bid it out with FedEx.

Through the years other schools have voiced their opinion on A&T selling those deeded seats for life as one of the dumbest ideas in college athletics history. Just think of the money we have missed out on and will miss for years to come because of this idea. I know this idea seemed necessary to get the stadium built at the time but in hindsight it was really a bad idea. All the people that got in on that deal lucked out big time.

That's what happens when your leaders don't have vision.
Like I said before: we've got to stop thinking Maury Povich and start thinking Larry King.

If Aggie One's story is correct, that's what paid for the stadium. If people paid 1500 bucks in 1977 money and that's how the stadium was built then they deserved a lifetime seat. Either that or we could still be piling into Memorial stadium. My daddy bought a 1977 Ford Mustang II for about two grand in late '76. To compare, a decent Mustang will now run you around 25 grand or so. If you ponied up 25 grand for A&T in one year wouldn't you expect something in return?
From what I do know of the history of the stadium by the time it was built it was about 10 years overdue. I'm sure half the people reading this haven't given $1500 total to the school, let alone all at once.
But that does show the foolishness of long term deals. You sign somebody to a 20 year deal and four years in the money is spent and doesn't buy as much as it did a few years prior. Short-term is the way to go.

The story is absolutely the truth and correct in its chronology. I still have all the copies of the class action suit and final judgment and a letter of apology from then Chancellor Forte.
Hindsight is 20-20 at best and probably not a good idea since programs are in need of constant cash flow every year but at the time it did raise the 2.5 million within 12 months for a single project, which is way more than anyone or organization or any department on campus could do today with less than 500 graduates all chipping in their part.
Besides, there are nearly 4,000 seats that easily be sold as PSL in that home reserve section. So its not like there's no room for a modest $250 annual PSL fee/ticket/Aggie Club membership which would equal out to .....$1 million a year in renewable income.
Even as a member of the Aggie Club that is way more than we would generate in year's time from our graduated membership fee which I think is obsolete.

That ACC championship they won last year must have sealed the deal.
