It appears that the Aggie coaching staff has no interest in Mustafaa Ashley. It is rumored that they haven't and will not offer the kid.

It appears that the Aggie coaching staff has no interest in Mustafaa Ashley. It is rumored that they haven't and will not offer the kid. yeah, i don't know if he's ya boy or not, but i watched the youtube video and it made me wonder what da hail the coaches see in this kid? first of all, he's small. secondly, i didn't see any vicious hits or interceptions or any outstanding highlights. and did i mention, he's small? dude is small! and has no highlights on top of that! so if we're talkin' about the same dude, thank gawd we didn't waste a scholly on 'em...

I've watched him play over the years. Apparently you did not watch BOTH of his highlight films. All that you said he didn't do, he does. As a coach I would rather have a sure tackle over a spectacular tackle. This kid has the ability to do both. As far as size goes, he's not a tackle or a guard or even a middle linebacker. He is a hard hitting safety filling the void for the good of his team. 5'7" 180 lbs with about 50 tackles on the season. I'm sure that he is not A & T's cure all, but he is a multi-talented hard nosed football player. Information is knowledge and knowledge is the key.

Well, if the young man wants to be an Aggie he's not prohibited from walking-on. If he's good, he'll take somebody else's scholarship and all will be well.
Otherwise there are about 30 other colleges in this state alone that play football. He won't have a problem landing somewhere. Best of luck to him whichever he decides.

An educated guess would be that there are propsects higher up on Lee's list that are bigger and stronger at the position.
IMO, If he were to be offered he most likely would end up on the offensive side of the ball as a slot and special teams guy because on a FCS college level at 5-5 or 5-6 he would get blasted by pulling guards and a huge liability in the redzone pass efense.
And as always you have to look at transcripts before anything else because with the reduction of 2 schollys each over the next couple years, there's not a lot of room for recruiting errors.

I'm sure that A&T was looking at him as a safety, not a linebacker and any player that is shorter than the receiver that he is defending is at a disadvantage in any passing attack. Anyway, he is an all around athlete and you put athletes in a position to make plays for you. Obviously the coaching staff saw something in him, but I guess they did not have the money to pass around. I'm told that A&T as well as a few more MEAC schools have extended preferred walk on status to him. I'm vertically challenged myself, so I almost always pull for the little guys.

Decent quickness but looks like Recco will need to hit the weight room.

TE coming in to visit this weekend so he must be strongly considering us.
Football: Nature Coast tight end Braddie Ellison picks up North Carolina A&T offer Posted on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at 2:46 p.m.
Sharks tight end Braddie Ellison has picked up an offer from North Carolina A&T, coach Mark Lee said Monday.
Lee is out of town at the American Football Coaches Association convention in Orlando where he said things are beginning to "heat up" in terms interest for some other Sharks, though he did not name specific players.
Ellison had eight catches for 260 yards and three touchdowns. And though his statistics aren't flashy, Lee said Ellison has been noted for his solid run blocking skills. Ellison, 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, averaged 26 yards per catch.
"His run blocking is very good," Lee said. "He would dominate kids. They saw his intensity and how physical he was."
Ellison will take an official visit to North Carolina A&T this weekend, Lee said.

the boy is a beast on defense! if he signs with us, don't be surprised if he winds up on the defensive side of the ball...
