My bad. I got too excited looking at the 1:02 mark score.
It was A&T over SCSU 92-85.

Man...I saw this game. SCSU has some Big guys with good moves. They will give anybody trouble in the tourney. We missed some FT's near the end....it would have been 100+ I tell you... rubbing my eyes...this Aggie team is hot! They will give anybody trouble, if they shoot with a ok %. Nic & Ed are so much taller ...with a handle! We held SCSU off and made plays. Looking back on it, the game was won after our run with about 7 or 8 mins left. And the bench played. D Joshua hit some shots. Man, this team is hot....I have to give it to them... Man...I have not seen 2nd place...this late... in a long time.

I think Coleman has the School record in BLKs.. He had about three tonight and he made some guys alter their shots. And He had about 3 dunks, that had Corbett hyped!

GREENSBORO, February 23, 2009 – Three-pointers have a habit of bouncing off the rim. Missed 3-pointers combined with a team like S.C. State who rebounds the ball well don’t make for a good combination.
Therefore, North Carolina A&T men’s basketball coach Jerry Eaves told his team to cut down on the threes and focus on taking high percentage shots. It worked. The Aggies shot 71.4 percent in the second half to earn a huge 92-85 win over the Bulldogs Monday night at Corbett Sports Center. Senior Ed Jones led the Aggies with a career-high 25 points.
Four other Aggies scored in double figures. Tavarus Alston added 17 points and six assists. Robert Johnson had 16, and Thomas Coleman finished with 13 points and three blocks on 6-for-6 shooting. Senior Nick Wilson closed out the double-figuring scoring with 11.
The win moves the Aggies into sole possession of second place in the MEAC. The Aggies’ seventh straight win also keeps them alive for at least a share of the MEAC regular-season championship after Morgan State loss to Hampton Monday night.
“We shot 22 3-pointers in the first half,’’ said Eaves. “That was a kiss of death. There was no way we could win this game shooting from the perimeter. We started to attack the paint. Ed Jones played well all night. If it not for him in the first half, we probably score 10 points.”
The Aggies were out-rebounded 29-18 in the first half and shot just 34.2 percent in the first half after going 5-for-22 from 3-point range. But the Aggies were able to stay in the game thanks to 15 S.C. State turnovers.
“I give my team credit for bouncing back in the second half,’’ said Eaves, whose team trailed 38-34 at the half. “The Winston-Salem State game takes so much out of my team because my players get on such a high for that game, it’s hard to sustain ourselves for the next game. (The Bulldogs) are so physical in the paint that when you’re not 100 percent with it, they’re a tough team to play.”
The Bulldogs’ size makes them the best shooting and rebounding team in the conference. The Aggies took a page from the Bulldogs (13-13, 8-6 MEAC) book by getting the ball in the paint. Ten of the Aggies first 13 points in the second half came inside the paint as the Aggies’ high pick-and-rolls put them in a 47-47 tie with 14:14 to play.
N.C. A&T’s inside play began to open things up on the perimeter as well as Wilson sparked a 16-3 run with a 3-pointer. A drive to the basket by Tavarus Alston led to a Thomas Coleman layup that capped the run and gave the Aggies a 63-50 lead with 9:39 to play.
“We just wanted to stay after people,’’ said Eaves. “Our press gives up a lot of easy points in the first half. But we feel like if we stay after people eventually they will hit the wall. It was not so much that their guards hit the wall, but we wanted to wear down their big men because they are so good inside offensively. (S.C. State) stopped getting back, we got some steals and we turned the game around by turning those steals into easy points.”
The only thing that stood between the Aggies (15-13, 8-5 MEAC) and a blowout victory were missed free throws. They were 16-for-29 for the game and 12-for-22 from the line in the final five minutes of the game.
“If we hit our free throws, we put the game away early,’’ said Eaves. “We’re going to have to keep working in that aspect.”
The Bulldogs were led by Jason Flagler’s 22 points. Jason Johnson added 20 points and eight rebounds. The Aggies will go for their eighth straight win on Saturday when they host Howard Saturday at 4 p.m.
