If we are the only DI offer, he must be slow as molasses or a non-qualifier that we are looking to redshirt.

It's borderline SAT scores with him. His film is pretty good.

FYI Seventy-First pair picks UNCP
By Sammy Batten Staff writer ADVERTISEMENT Two defenders from Seventy-First’s state title team and three players who earned All-Mid-Southeastern 4-A Conference honors have made oral commitments to college programs.
Linebacker Devante Bush and defensive back Kris Jackson, who helped Seventy-First limit opponents to 8.8 points in its drive to the state 4-A championship, have both decided to play next season at UNC-Pembroke.
Both players were three-year varsity starters for the Falcons.
“They already have several Seventy-First kids down there on their roster and I think these two young men will make their presence felt as well,’’ Seventy-First coach Bob Paroli said.
Bush and Jackson are the third and fourth players from Seventy-First’s title team to announce their college intentions. Running back-defensive back James Hopper previously committed to Virginia Tech, while linebacker Lamar McLendon is pledged to East Carolina.
Owens, Johnson, Rowe All-Mid-Southeastern defensive lineman Donnie Owens from Douglas Byrd has accepted a scholarship offer from a Football Championship Subdivision school.
Owens, who made 126 tackles to help Byrd reach the state 4-A finals, is headed to Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. The Chanticleers went 6-6 last season and 1-4 in the Big South Conference.
Also heading to the FCS program at Winston-Salem State is Douglas Byrd’s all-league quarterback Malcolm Rowe. Rowe produced more than 2,000 yards of total offense as a senior for the Eagles.
Cumberland County’s second-leading tackler, Jack Britt linebacker Cory Johnson, will head to Salisbury next fall to suit up for NCAA Division II Catawba College. Johnson collected 158 tackles this season to help propel the Buccaneers to the state 4-AA title game.
Players can make their commitments official next Wednesday when college football’s national signing period opens.

FYI.............FAMU............... Clair Murraine DEMOCRAT STAFF WRITER
Eric Storey is leaning toward signing with Florida A&M for two reasons.
First, the 6-foot, 195-pound running back from California doesn't want to play his college football at a school too close to home.
ADVERTISEMENT Second, he was captivated by the Southern hospitality that he experienced last weekend.
Storey and 17 other recruits were on FAMU's campus Saturday, the last day for such visits before Wednesday's national signing day.
"The visit was great," said Storey, who said he also visited Sacramento State University. "After looking around, this is the No. 1 place I want to go to. I feel like this is home for me because I come from California. This whole Southern country style I like it a lot. I'm excited. I want to come out here and play."
At least one other high school player from California and two from Georgia also visited, along with 14 others from Florida. The number might not be large, but at the same time recruiting coordinator Tim Edwards said FAMU wasn't looking for too much for coach Joe Taylor's first recruiting class.
"The biggest part was figuring out who we are," Edwards said. "We didn't want to get too much of what we already have. Going through the process enabled us to strategically go after some needs that we have going into the next year."
FAMU has already picked up some experience with the addition of some midyear signing of transfers from BCS schools. The list includes former FSU walk-on and Madison County offensive lineman Jay Culpepper, offensive lineman Chris Little, who played at Georgia, and offensive lineman Braden Curry from Marshall as well as former South Carolina junior defensive back Marques Barnes and former Kentucky defensive end Jamil Paris.
Edwards said he hoped the Rattlers' success in Taylor's first season made enough of an impression to make this recruiting class a solid one. FAMU went from 3-8 to 9-3 in Taylor's first season as head coach.
"A lot of people know us," Edwards said. "They have seen us on television. They've seen the highs and they've heard about the lows. This (visit) gave them a chance to see what we are from the inside and what coach (Taylor's) philosophy is. It gave them a chance to tie it all in. This isn't hoping and wishing; this is a chance for them to see it themselves."
FAMU will wait and see the outcome when Storey and other prospects make their final decisions Wednesday. Storey could add some depth to the Rattlers running game, which relied primarily on Philip Sylvester and Lavonte Page.
This past season with Moreau Catholic in Hayward, Calif., Storey averaged 66.2 yards per game and finished the season with 190 carries for 596 yards. He rushed for two touchdowns and had 100 or more yards in three of eight games he played.
Storey said another reason he's settling on FAMU is the academic assistance coaches promised.
"The coaches said they are going to stick with us and help us with academics and that was real nice," he said. "I like to hear that. I like to hear them talk about the football program, but it's what happens after football."

I don't think we will have a lot of players leaving because most of the seniors played for Lee when Small was here. Some were even recruited by Lee and Berry so they are familiar with their coaching styles, especially those 5th year seniors. Those seniors should have some influence on the other players. You would would think so anyway!!
