The boy sat out last year as a transfer from a school in Ohio. Hey 4XL, based on the official MEAC stats from last season it appears that Dr. Julian did not sit out last year. admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=20800&ATCLID=1514749He played in 2 games for a total of 4 minutes, recorded one steal and scored 2 points. Believe me when I tell you, he did not play last year.

Maybe there was another guy on the team last year named Julian McCurklin. That could happen.
Julian McCurklin is a very common name. Kinda like John Smith.

This is McClurkin last year of elgibility. I wonder why he never hit the floor until now. It would be nice to know how many minutes McClurkin has played prior to this year. Offensively, he is better than Coleman but that isn't saying a lot. I think Coach Eaves needs to tighten up his game to close some of his holes in coaching. WHAT? Is this AggieJazz? Thrilla, somebody tell Jazz that an imposter has gotten hold to his password. I can't believe it. I think I'm going into cardiac arrest. I know Eaves must be struggling if Jazz said this. If you keep this up Jazz, some might say you were coldbusted. looooooooolllll I think Coach Eaves is close to having a foundation. I don't want people reading BDV to think things are shaky because there is stability in program with Coach Eaves. People are not perfect and everybody can improve including me. I was just giving a little push. There are 12 games to go and then the tournament. I am hoping Coach Eaves will eventually have his funding increased starting next year so his budget will be close to the top 3 schools in the MEAC for a few years. Then and only thing can we truly expect this program to have good odds in winning a MEAC Championship.

... and also whoever updated the ncataggies.com website: McClurkin in AggieLand: Returns to N.C. A&T after a season where he played sparingly…Came to N.C. A&T as a walk-on from Division II Tiffin University…Unlike last season, he should play a crucial role for the Aggies this season…He is a versatile player who can do a variety of things like put the ball on the floor, is an excellent passer, can face the basket and hit the mid-range jump shot and defends with a long wingspan…He will battle for the starting center position this season…His presence at center could help the Aggies move forward Thomas Coleman to the power forward position. 2007-2008: Played in two games with no starts…Averaged 1.5 points in those two games…All three of his points during the season came against Houston Baptist on Nov. 11.Tiffin University: Played two years of varsity basketball at Tiffin University…Averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a freshman…The next season, averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Independence High School Career: Played two years at Independence High School in Columbus, Ohio…Averaged 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior under head coach Tom Cripe…Served in student government and was an honor roll student…Held a seat on the school’s Share Decision Making cabinet…Also played a variety of sports in high school, including baseball, football, volleyball and swimming. Personal: Full name is Julian McClurkin…He is the son of Joseph and Barbara Johnson…He was born on August 1, 1986…He is a business management major who started a weekly Bible study after coming to N.C. A&T…Chose N.C. A&T because he wanted to be a part of a historically black college and university…His talents include playing the guitar and drums, writing poetry, swimming and public speaking…Listens to gospel artists Bishop Joseph White, Fred Hammond and John P. Kee. www.ncataggies.com/Mensbasketball/profiles/mcclurkin_j.htm

I remember McClurkin being on the team last year and listed as a junior. On occasion he had on civies. You might want to question the rationale for having a player of McClurkin's calibre on your team for one year based on his productivity through eighteen games (nineteen was the charm). Hopefully, he is a good citizen and student. If so, that would be the reward.
This thread started out as sort of an amusing tongue in cheek about the post game interview of coach Eaves. However, it seems to have escalated into a debate about Eaves coaching and recruiting. I am pleased to see that the coach has as many supporters as detractors. I've also noticed over time that there are enough alibis for the state of his program to free the entire prison population of San Quentin. Hey, there is always hope that Eaves will turn things around and the team will live up to most everyones expectations. It can really happen, since the other teams in the conference don't appear to be superior to A&T's team. Just check out who is beating who. It starts tonight with a win at scsu.
Oh, coach did make some astute statements in his interview about Alton's performance. Should have played him as a freshman and sophomore. I mean quality playing time. Just my slanted opinion.

It is still early in the season and the Aggies could be hot in the last 6 games of the regular season.

Then and only thing can we truly expect this program to have good odds in winning a MEAC Championship. Isn't this kind of thinking what got us here in the first place? If you've had a stock that has underperformed for the last six years, why would you invest more money in it in the 7th year? Isn't that absurd? Plus, where does our funding place with Bethune, Morgan, Hampton, Norfolk, FAMU, and Del State? These are the teams ahead of us right now. I bet at least 2 of these teams' funding is worse or comparable to ours. STOP MAKING EXCUSES!

I'm disappointed, no post game interview. I guess it would be pretty difficult to explain last night's fiasco.

ORANGEBURG, S.C., January 26, 2009 – The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team had no problem on Saturday playing in a hostile rivalry game against Winston-Salem State.
But when the extra element of live television was added on Monday night at S.C. State, a team of players who had never really experienced that kind of exposure, had a hard time adjusting to the added pressure of playing in front of an ESNPU audience.
N.C. A&T shot just 29.2 percent, were out-rebounded by a wide margin and missed eight of their final 10 shots in a 71-53 loss to the Bulldogs at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Ed Jones led the Aggies with 16 points. Tavarus Alston added 12.
“My kids came in here, played on television and simply played the worst game of their careers,’’ said head coach Jerry Eaves. “We couldn’t grab a rebound, we couldn’t hit a layup and we couldn’t hold on to the basketball. On television, we simply didn’t show well.”
It was an uphill battle from the start for the Aggies. S.C. State jumped out to a 9-0 lead and eventually saw that lead increase to 31-11 midway through the first half. The Aggies were able to get the lead down to 15, 42-27, by the half. But the Aggies quickly found themselves down 20 again within the first two minutes of the second half.
N.C. A&T did make a few runs in the game. A 6-0 run was capped by an Alston mid-range jumper cut the Bulldogs lead to 55-42 with 11:11 to play. S.C. State started becoming helpful by missing shots. The Bulldogs scored on just two free throws over the next two minutes, but unfortunately the Aggies didn’t score at all during that period.
Despite the lull, Alston’s 3-pointer pulled the Aggies to within 57-45 with 8:18 remaining. Another Aggie scoring drought – this one lasted four minutes and produced just one point – kept the Bulldogs safely in the lead. When Jones broke the Aggies field goal drought, the Bulldogs still held a 64-48 lead with 4:34 remaining.
“This is by far the worst game of the year,’’ said Eaves. “We had so many opportunities to get back into the game. But we couldn’t hit a layup. It’s all about having enough confidence in your self to hit easy shots. Every time we got to within 13, we rushed our shots and didn't give ourselves an opportunity to cut it to nine or 10. We missed so many second shot opportunities tonight.”
The Aggies will try to get right on national television when they play at Delaware State on Feb. 16. They travel to Washington, D.C., to face Howard on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Thanks!!! Didn't bother to read a wet paper. Thanks again. I guess I owe Eaves an apology. He certainly owes me and other fans one for his teams performance.
