Even though its seems unlikely that Wheeler will even grant him an interview, I still haven't heard a good reason why he shouldn't be considered. Especially since he reportedly is interested in the job. Tom KnottsHead coach, Charlotte Independence High SchoolSo .... what are his pros and cons? Do you think he would be a good fit?

America just elected a black president. Shouldn't that mean that A&T can now hire a white football coach?

He's one of the strongest people that have been mentioned. Too bad, he will end up at UNCC and whoop on us for years to come

I think Wheeler's biggest problem with Tom Knotts is he's a high school coach. I would hope it's not about color, because that's a true sign of narrow mindedness! Remember, that was Dee Todd's problem!

i can understand how folks may get excited about a high school coach who won an enormous amount of football games including about 80 of 'em consecutively without a defeat. he won multiple state 4AA championships including 3 or 4 in a row and has produced several high school all-americans.
yet, he only has one year of experience as an assistant at the college level, he's never been responsible for "managing" a team year round while they're away from mom and dad. there's so much more to coaching at the fcs level than at the high school level that it would be very risky at best to hire a high school coach.
wheels knows that he's in no position to take chances which would leave him vulnerable to "massive criticism" if it fails. can you imagine the onslaught of criticism from folks like ahhhbigboy if knotts falls on his face? can anybody "guarantee" knotts will succeed? 'cause if he doesn't, i can think of a million names that folks will be calling wheels! i can hear it now, why in the hail did you hire a freakin' high school coach!
sure, there's no guarantee that a proven college head coach will succeed at a&t, but history shows there's far more examples of proven college coaches succeeding than high school coaches. so why would anyone want to take a risk on a high school coach? answer, because their job isn't on the line.
every time someone suggests a high school coach i think of jerry faust and bob wade. jerry faust was a nationally acclaimed high school coach from cincinnati moeller and so was bob wade from dunbar high school in baltimore. faust failed miserably at notre dame and wade did the same at maryland with an ncaa probation to boot!
you just don't see fcs and fbs schools hiring high school coaches to lead their football programs. so why would a school coming off of a 27 game losing streak and two fired coaches hire one?

So please explain what he doesn't meet? But we are considering Webster @ TSU who has a 21-23 record since he has been there. Come on
