correction... repost; with the number of young guys ( first year players), the game allowed every player to get playing time under game conditions. Though the opponent was not difficult, they did present some challenges at the beginning of the game. It's also been a good minute since we had an opening game for the season at home.

I don't mind such a warm-up game to start the season. This is much preferable (to me) than getting your brakes beat off like Wake Forest did to Central last night. If D3 teams made up the majority of our non-conference schedule, then yeah, we could do better. More challenging teams are ahead.
The Central Florida game on Sunday should tell us more about this team.

On a side note, did you notice that Howard beat our new Pres's brother in-law last night?? Is Howard any good or is Oregan State REALLY sorry??

I think I read somewhere that Oregon State entered the contest with a 22-game losing streak.

Fam, I saw most of the game. Ed got it going in the 2nd half. We were taller & deeper. We are a different team than the Rush era. Our 3's were, for the most part, not forced. They were into the flow of the offense. Eaves has the high stack type set that puts three men side by side across the free-throw line. It can pose problems for teams. I also allows for isolation down low. I like it. Defensively, we picked up full court all game. We also changed it to a press or trap after a time out that confused the other team. It also made them pass the ball to people who should not be trying to dribble thru a trap. Subsequently we got at least two violations where they could not cross half-court in time. Our defense will be our key this year. I was impressed. I want to see how many turnovers we cause this year.
Ed hit another NBA 3', before the half. I think that he will take the big shots. > Who is the enforcer?. I can’t say right now. I can say that Coleman & Shepard will block some shots this year. It seems like as soon as the opposition beats his man, they look around and Coleman is there to block/alter the shot. > Who is the go - to Guy?...Ed for right now...he just looks like he knows what to do. > Needs??? Better Free-throw shooting....we got in the bonus early while struggling ( but did not take advantage). Just wait until we really start flowing. I think that this team will surprise some people. I like this team.

like eaves said... this team will struggle early until guys get comfortable scoring... that was evident at the beginning when we fumbled easy layups out of bounds... plus that opening baseline dunk ed had... he took 3 steps but the refs let it go...
when these guys figure it out... " its only basketball... lets just play..." this team will be fun to watch...

Dang! This was a D-III school! OK, we gotta draw the line somewhere! davidson played guilford college d-3... the ncaa lets these type games count as d-1 opponents for d-1 schools & exhibition gms for the d-3 schools... don't know why... maybe since the seasons are starting earlier & earlier nowadays... the ncaa has provided some loop-holes...
