It's all mute. WB will be hiring either Broadway or Webster, the safer picks.
My money is on Broadway.

i think knotts would be a good hire for a program that can afford to take chances. unc-charlotte can afford to take a chance since they'll be a start up program. we can't afford to take chances because of our 5 year record and two consecutive failed coaches.
the way i see it, high school and college are two entirely different forms of coaching. they're like night and day. i'm sure that's why wheels doesn't want to consider a high school coach. coaching at the fcs level is far more advanced than high school. but it doesn't mean a high school coach can't be successful, it just means it's risky. plus, history doesn't lie. history says, rarely, if ever, does a high school coach with a year or less of college experience succeed as a head coach at the fcs or fbs levels.
i don't know a lot about knotts' background except he spent one year as an assistant at duke and the rest at the high school level. how do we know if he can recruit? sure, we can make an "assumption" that he should be good at it since every high school coach in north carolina should know him by name. but does that mean he'll be a good recruiter? and what about x's and o's? a lot of meac head coaches and assistants have multiple years of experience at the fcs, fbs and nfl levels. how would knotts' experience and his staff stack up against that? how would knotts survive with an inferior budget compared to his meac peers? does he even know how to run an "fcs" program? its a year round job, including spring training, fundraising, travel/recruiting, ncaa regulations, etc.
there's just too many unanswered questions about knotts. but i will say this, if you're willing to take a chance, knotts would be a good candidate to take a chance on...

I would take Knotts over any coach in the MEAC.
The man has charisma! To give you guys who don't know anything about him, he is the Ole Ball Coach of NCHSAA.
Don't doubt for a second the man can recruit. If you have paid any attention to the "noise" of Charlotte/Meck over the last couple of years you would see they have tried to put in measures to prevent high schools from Recruiting players. Recruiting players to your program is a part of high school football in Charlotte.
Hiring Knotts would make A&T a player in the Charlotte recruting market. Charlotte is the biggest market for A&T recruiting; Knotts in the Blue and Gold could push the Aggies to the number 2 spot behind App State for I-AA schools!
The question is will Brown be willing to step outside of the safe "black coach with HBCU ties" box.
As an Alum he should have Power within the Alumni Base to say Guys we are going to go with the best candidate for the job and if he is white, black, or whatever I don't care!
The next coach at A&T needs to be somebody who is going to be a program changer. Knotts have the Charisma and ties to the most important recruiting base.

I know one thing. Knotts can sure recruit. Just ask all the other high school coaches in the Charlotte area, LOL.
