Kenny Phillips is a crazy name.
I'd much rather have Coach Hester from Catawba or Coach Reich from Wingate. Coach Hester and Catawba is 4-0 against Kenny Phillips. Catawba was blowing out FSU's best teams under Phillips. Coach Hester has Greensboro roots. He recruits NC heavily. He is like 19-1 against HBCUs, including the aforementioned 4-0 against FSU.

A new name to add to the mix is Ron Prince. He played at App State Coached at SC State and JMU on his way to UVA and eventually Kansas State. He is also an offensive guy which we need badly!

Phillips' name mentioned as possible N.C. A&T coach
By Paul Shugar Staff writer ADVERTISEMENT Staff file photo Fayetteville State coach Kenny Phillips said North Carolina A&T hadn’t contacted him about its vacant position. Rumors are circulating again that North Carolina A&T might want Fayetteville State’s Kenny Phillips for its vacant football coach position.
With the Broncos waiting to see if pollsters elevate them into the Division II postseason after an 8-2 campaign, Phillips said the Division I-FCS Aggies haven’t contacted him about the position. On Wednesday, his main focus was getting the team ready for a potential playoff game.
“I’m a Bronco today,” Phillips said. “I’m a Bronco until they tell me I’m not a Bronco anymore. I hope that doesn’t happen anytime soon.”
Similar rumors were heard when former A&T coach George Small was fired after the 2005 season. Phillips has ties to the school, working as an assistant under former Aggies coach Billy Hayes for seven years. Some of the schools’ fans even circulated fliers around Greensboro about Phillips’ coaching accomplishments.
But the A&T job went to former Texas A&M assistant Lee Fobbs, who was fired in October after losing 28 of his 30 games. Running backs coach George Ragsdale is the interim coach for the rest of the season
Aggies athletic director Wheeler Brown said after the firing that candidates won’t be contacted until December. He wanted to have the job filled by January or sooner. Wednesday, Brown said this remains his plan and didn’t say if Phillips is one of the potential candidates.
“Nothing is going to happen until after the season,” Brown said. “I’ve been on the record that it’s a short list of five to six people, but I will not divulge any names on that list.”
“Some on that list are currently coaching, and I wouldn’t want to put their job statuses in jeopardy.”
FSU gave Phillips a five-year contract extension in June of 2006 after rumors about the potential Aggies job came out. The deal gave him a $10,000 raise, bringing his salary to $95,944.
He recorded win No. 56, the most in Broncos football history, with a 55-20 win against Livingston this past Saturday. He is 40-20 in the CIAA and won conference championships in 2002 and 2003. This year’s team is ranked No. 8 in Super Regional 1 and No. 24 in D2Football.com’s Top 25 poll.
Teams must be ranked in the top six in the regional poll to make the postseason. The final poll comes out next week.
With Phillips’ contract running through the 2010 season, FSU athletic director Edward McLean said he hasn’t heard about any Aggies interest in his coach. McLean is aware A&T contacted Phillips the last time the job was open, but that was before his arrival two years ago.
Once the season is officially finished, McLean plans to sit down with Phillips and discuss ways to better Phillips’ job. They will talk about everything from Phillips’ class load as a teacher to improvements at Nick Jeralds Stadium to aid recruiting.
“Anybody who’s been around coach Phillips any length of time realizes they’re dealing with a quality person who cares about his players and does the type of job that needs to be done,” McLean said. “He’s one of those coaches that, when I go home at night, I can take football off my plate.”

last night on espnu during the scsu/howard game, jay walker stated that cornell maynor, alonzo lee, ray petty, and henry frazier are supposedly in the mix to become our next head football coach.
i don't know how reliable his info is, but i would love to welcome frazier to aggieland! if he can turn prairie view around, turning our program around will be a piece of cake...

Nah dude. T-bone sang tenor.
Don't come here and try to rewrite history. You was the soprano ... and I don't mean Tony Soprano either.

Don't even think about it, Wheels.
Picking Alonzo Lee will turn the entire A&T fan base against you. You will be the most hated man in Greensboro. Don't do that to yourself.
You still have time to get this right.

Wheels is not hated. He is widely loved.
However he would become hated if he hired the same defensive coordinator who got fired along with Small and company in 2005.
Maybe not by the entire city of Greensboro, but at least by one resident of Brown Summit, NC.

And I bet he's part of the reason that QB from HP ANdrews and RB from Dudley are at Morgan

Pretty much. His Morgan D led the nation this year.
The nation.
Considering the person that performed Lee’s firing and hired Small’s replacement was incompetent, I don’t think the fact that he was fired holds a lot of weight.
