I can hear Al Attles growling in my ear, "You never saw Joe Cotton, dammit!" And I can see Mister B (Tom Bynum) leaning against the training table asking, "Young man, you never saw Joe Howell, did you?"

The players Aggierattler named are people you and I did not see play unless you are in your 80's. Mind your business. Notice I didn't pick. Because I know I didn't see enough winning basketball with my own eyes or on video. I was leaving the Rushmore vote to those that did. You had 10 damn names!! That's a 2-deep. You still need to pick 4. LOL |

The only one on my list that I did not see play is Al Attles. June Harris was one of my all-time favorite Aggies as a young kid. I was actually a ballboy at the Greensboro Coliseum during one of his tournament runs under Cal Irvin. Saw him play many times in Moore Gym. |

The only one on my list that I did not see play is Al Attles. June Harris was one of my all-time favorite Aggies as a young kid. I was actually a ballboy at the Greensboro Coliseum during one of his tournament runs under Cal Irvin. Saw him play many times in Moore Gym. Don't for get Carter ( before the injury) . Tooth pick Harris and Carter ( hope I got his name right ) . June had all the kids playing with tooth picks in there mouths at Bimbo Park , Hayes Taylor . The only Old Head that I saw make June look average was Mud-Tap 😆 in the Pro Am's at Windsor Center. All of us kids would pack the house back then . Good Old Days . Craig cotton used to keep the stats and Tub would keep and eye 👁 on us because you had kids from the Grove Hill and Southside all in the same place at the same time 😆 Windsor and Hayes Taylor were considered Holy Ground .Oh don't forget about Soupy and Cherry . |

Maxell, I saw a helluva lot of players from back in the day from early 60's to present. If you want 4 Rushmore players that I actually saw they are:
June Harris
Allen Spruill
James Outlaw
Joe Binion - Byrd (tie)
After Coach Corbett left there are no Rushmore players.
BTW those other players I named out of those 10 could have started on any team that T has had in the last several decades.
Now mind yo business again!!

OK...I need a couple of decades to hit my 80s, but give me time!

Those games at Windsor Center were priceless, as you said. I guess Ken Free ultimately set those up.
Any of you remember Earnest Canada?? I didn't realize how great of a baseball player he was at A&T until many years later, but he played at A&T before my old man did (who played in '53, '54 & '55 and then signed with the Cardinals). But Earnest Canada was a monster on the diamond, played for Coach Joe Echols, but never got the right break in pro ball. Anyway, he taught me a lot of A&T history lessons as a young kid. |

If I'm not mistaken Darryl cherry was a decent baseball player also and a few other of those Charlotte boys . I was at that game also when Carter came down on his head and neck . |

Nice set of players on your Mt. Rushmore. I never saw June Harris, Joe Binion, and James Sparrow play. I think I've heard the most about Sparrow but I understand Harris and Binion were equally as good at basketball. However, I did see Al Attles, Joe Howell and Joe Cotton play and in my opinion, Joe Cotton was VERY, VERY GOOD, Joe Howell was GREAT (a tremendous shooter) and Al Attles was all-around the GREATEST. By the way, you can feel free to select one of your other candidates (Harris, Binion or Sparrow) as the fourth person on my Mt. Rushmore...
They were roommates in Scott Hall at some point . |

I was at the game where Al Carter got injured. I thought that he was dead, to be honest. Like you alluded to, he was never really the same after that injury. I was on a Zoom on Thursday night with Craig Cotton, Lut Williams, Joe Faust, Gil Harris and others, and we talked a lot of A&T/CIAA/MEAC Basketball for at least an hour. LOL @ June and his toothpicks!

Cherry did play baseball at 'Tee, even though I don't think that I ever saw him play baseball. I just remember seeing him from being in yearbooks in the '60s. |

Yes 😆 Hell Burley Webb and Vince Evans both were outstanding baseball players too . Burley just couldn't stay away from the streets 😂 . I'm willing to bet that you play for Bluford Blues our nemesis . Duck aka Jimmy Jeffries and Charlie Staten we're all so good ball players I think duck played baseball for A&T . Hell we played all the sports and we're good to great at them . |
