None of the women during my college era could touch players like Amber Bland.
She wasn't a scorer at all, but I think that Mamie Jones may have been the best during my time at "Tee."

The greatest female BB player in A&T history...Amber Calvin. BTJ and Amber Bland were good, but they never showed up in post season play the way Amber Calvin did, especially during that history making WNIT run. Amber was clutch in the final minutes with nerves of steel when the others just did not have it. Bland and BTJ dominated in the MEAC, but Calvin did it where the world could see. Plus, she is still dominating at FSU.

Let's give Tweet some love, but she was no Amber Calvin. Tweet had impressive individual numbers and was quicker, but she could not make her teammates better the way Amber Calvin did. Tweet was better when she played with Bland and BTJ.

I never got to see Joyce play. I watched her coach, but never saw her play.

I saw Joyce play. She was good but not a BTJ or Amber Bland. I also saw her coach.
To me BTJ last year at "T" was outstanding. In a way she carried the team and helped Amber Bland do her thing. She was heads and shoulders above all of the players on that team her final year. Smalley was great also and should get some love.
Tweet was good also and I give her and Amber Calvin equal billings. Both were special and each had their on "thang" that made them special and good. However, BTJ to me was the best to come through "T" with her shooting ability and will.

What about 6'3" center Malvetta Johnson who in the 1999-2000 season led the nation in rebounding with an average of 13.4 per game. She finished third in the nation in blocked shots (3.0 per game) and twenty-fifth in scoring (19.4 per game). Johnson was the 1998-99 MEAC women's Player of the Year and I don't think the team won 5 games that year.
I never saw her play but she must have been very good. If anyone on this forum did see her play, I'd love to hear your opinion of her.

Malveata Johnson gets my vote even though she didn't have the best supporting cast at that time. She was a beast.

She was unstoppable without any help whatsoever. Lord knows how much better she would have been under Bibbs or Robinson.

Amber Bland EASILY had the most impact of a single player in the Aggie Women's program. Bar None.
Malveata Johnson may have been the best of her position but she gets no credit because she was the consummate lady. She would drop 20-10-5 blocks and SMILE. It's a crying shame she never got to play with Latania McIntyre, which was Tim Abney's plan.
Amber Calvin was a winner. Period. Injuries kept her at about 70 percent for most of her career.
Diedre Cheeks was a great player that held her own against probably the MEAC's All Time great PF in Alisha Hill.
Mia Glover has one stat that tells you a lot about her. 45 points in Corbett Sports Center, most ever, man or woman, at 5-foot-3. A BALLER.
