Saabman, please quit giving false facts ... Cleo Hill did not play with Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. He had gone when Earl was there.
You are always giving false facts and false rhetoric. That is why I want you and OSA find out about the use of profanity on BDV and to see if it is legal or not.
Then when you find out the answer we will call a truce ... you, me and osa.

AggieGroove, look my man ... it is evident that you did not see the players in the CIAA in the 50's, 60's and early 70's. The CIAA had all of the talent in it because of segregation. The CIAA Tournament was the most scouted conference in America. The ACC and other conferences were inferior to the CIAA. Those large white colleges would not play CIAA schools back in those days. They knew what the outcome would be. I believe Duke played NCC a secret game back then and got blown out and NCC had maybe the 3rd or 4th best team in the CIAA at that time. Imagine what A&T, Winston and Norfolk would have done to Duke. When Bird was at A&T during your era he might have been the best. I can name two players I consider better than Bird and they played in the 70's and that is June Harris and James Outlaw. June according to Red Aurebach of the Celtics said June was the best defensive guard in America. The teams that Bird played against were not as talented as the CIAA of the 60 - early 70's. As I previously stated before ... Bird ball handling skills to me were not that good. He could shoot very good but when he played in the big games (NIT) he was just ordinary. You may be bias towards Bird because he is your "Brother" in Groove. It is opinion and I'm entitled to mine...so we agree to disagree. I'm out!

Sparrow (Bird) is the only A&T player to ever be invitied to try out for the USA Olympic Team. He was invited personally by Dean Smith. At that time Dean stated that he considered "Bird" one of the best players in the state of N.C... In a head to head matchup with Larry Bird when A&T played ISU Sparrow had the better numbers even though we lost the game. I have seen a lot of A&T player through the years (50's and 60's included) and "Bird" ranks right up there with the best of them. I don't think we will ever agree on who was the greatest but we can all be thankful that we got to see some of the players that we consided the best of the best. It's a shame that none of the recent players can even be mention in the same breath with all the players we have mention from back in "the day".

^^^ I don't know, OSA! Even Joe Binion might have trouble making some of those rosters from back in the 1960s and very early 1970s.

Saabman I had already seen that link before you put it on this site. I am always a step ahead of you. Know one including OSA and you have ever put me in check and don't you forget that.
Glad you finally admitted that you were wrong. Most time you are but no one calls you out like I did.

Even Joe Binion might have trouble making some of those rosters from back in the 1960s and very early 1970s. c'mon, binion is a&t's all time leading scorer (if i'm not mistaken), probably ranks very high in rebounding as well, and briefly played in the nba (portland trailblazers). i don't know about the 60's, but there's no doubt in my mind that both binion and coleman would've easily made a&t's roster during bird's era...

^^^ (Only my personal opinion here, OK?) I think that Binion would have "made the rosters," but would have struggled for playing time from the Al Attles era thru the June Harris era at A&T.
And I don't think that Coleman could have made most rosters during that same timeline.

i think coleman suffered from poor coaching and/or poor work ethic during his first 3 years at a&t. but his raw talent has always been there. with his size and athleticism, i think both binion and coleman could've played on any aggie team.
i can't vouch for the 60's or early 70's, or anything prior to that time. but i'm 100% certain that both binion and coleman not only would've made a&t's roster during any era after the mid 70's, but they both would have been starters and major contributors at some point in their 4 year career.
binion was a "beast" when he was at a&t. imo, he needs to be in the discussion as one of the all time best. and if coleman had developed to his full potential in all 4 years at a&t, he could have become one of the all time best too.
one of my favorite past aggies who rarely gets talked about is harold royster. i liked his game because he was so smooth. when i think back over the years, its pretty obvious that we use to have much better talent than we do today...

OSA - BACK IN THE 50'S AND 60'S AND EVEN EARLY 70'S THERE WAS A QUOTA SYSTEM FOR HOW MANY BLACK PLAYERS COULD BE ON A TEAM. THERE WERE PLENTY OF PLAYERS BACK IN THE DAY THAT COULD HAVE MADE THE NBA BUT THE COULDN'T FOR THAT SIMPLE REASON.
BINION AND COLEMAN WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE TEAM BACK IN THE DAY BUT WOULD NOT HAVE STARTED.
