The word on the street is that the New Chancellor has given Fobbs the minimum requirements to stay. They are 6 wins for the season. If the team is 1-4 by mid season we should be looking for replacements.
In my opinion. the entire staff should start shopping their resumes. When you look at the schedule things look bleak.
Here is what I think our chances of winning each game are:
JC Smith..........70% WSSU...........50% Norfolk.........40% Hampton........30% Coastal Carolina.........10% Morgan State...........50% Howard.........50% Del State.........20% BCC..........40% NCCU........50% FAMU........50% SC State..........10%
If I was playing spades I would tell my partner that we need to go board. There is no chance of us pulling five books. I only see 1 and 3 possibles.
What do you think???

If we can't beat JC Smith we can't be WSSU, Norfolk, or Hampton so get rid of Fobbs after the JC Smith lose............

One of the amazing thing I noticed last year is that the players played hard every game except the last game.
The only way I see JC Smith beating the Aggies is that they come to Greensboro not only better prepared than the Aggies but also highly prepared.

Hasn't that been the case in the last 27 games? JCSU will try to play us tough on defense and simply let us beat ourselves. If you remember our 2003 team then you've seen thier style of play.

I'd say we could go blind, but we've been doing that for the past two hands.

My suggestion in response to ffiring Fobbs is this. With his salary and what we have done in the last two firings is paid 2 coaches at the same time at high salaries so it means we really are paying for 1-3 years salaries in excess of $300K. My suggestion is to either demote Fobbs to a lower level coach for the remainder of his contract or just ride it out for one more year but announce at the beginning of the season that he will be fired at the end of the 2009 season.. That gives him andhis assistants time to apply for other jobs. It allows A*T officials and administrators to work out the resources needed to hire the coach of the future and it allows applicants to evaluate the potential job and know what they are getting into, It will take 200K or more to hire a new coach and while I agree Fobbs might need to go now but paying his salary and another 200 will only hurt the overall athletic budget that is inadequate now so lets announce it at the end of the season. It will be fair to him and all involve, not saying that we have to be fair.

I'd just do the same thing they did with Dee. Move him to academics. That way you get his salary out of the athletic department altogether and you find somewhere that he can be succesful within the university. He ain't dumb, he just isn't good at coaching under our contraints.

you still need the 175+ of his salary to pay another coach, unless another department is ppicking up the tab.

At this point, they should just let his contract run out and have a committee formed in the meanwhile that will design a very thorough interviewing process for the whole department. Our 2 top programs are terrible. Firing Fobbs and rushing to hire another coach will bring more peril. The leaders in the athletic department have proven their incompetence with their hires in basketball and football. Form a committee and get others involved. A hiring thinktank if you will. We're in an economic crisis and that will trickle down to the universities at some point, so extra money won't be around, especially for a failed football program. We'll need Fobbs' current salary to make the next man happy.
I'm not swearing it's right, It's just a thought.
