Of course their schedules are tougher, but our girls can definitely beat Liberty if they played again. The other teams would still be tough. We have top level talent though. The only difference is our girls don't have the mentality as some of the major D-1 girls. If they truly believed they could beat those teams, I think that they would. Tweet, Amber, and Sams could play for just about any team out there. They are just as athletic and smart as anyone.

If their schedules are tougher (including Liberty's) then they have honed their skills against better competition. Therefore it seems that we would be at a disadvantage in a rematch.
Everybody seems to want to pick Liberty as our mark on this thread. I note that Liberty has three losses, none of which were to us. While we were tied with 3:50 left in the game (which is the equivalent of forever in basketball), we were also tied at 0 at the beginning of the game.
Before we went on this crazy meac run that has y'all thinking we're somehow better than we are, we had won one out of the previous five and the natives were restless. Does anybody think we're actually getting better by playing bad teams? The only thing that is getting better is our record, and if we are blessed enough to make it to the NCAAs unscathed the first round shellacking we will take will prove it. Our schedule just does not provide for competitive improvement on a national scale. I think it's far better to realize that in advance than to sit there and say "what happened?" year after year after year.

Top level talent playing bottom level competition is not going to improve very much. Period.

The difference in the Liberty game was 4 points. Many pick Liberty, myself included, because we played them and as mentioned, should have won. The Big Mouth Conference, as Ball1 calls it, aint that better than the MEAC. Our women's team smacked around one of their conference teams, UNC-A in the UNCG Tournament, which is the 2nd year in a row that they did that. I know Liberty is a different kettle of fish all together, but their they aint gettin better from weaker competition, either. Their non-conference schedule I don't know nothin about, but conference schedlue, their's is as weak as ours.
On second thought, I take that back. Look at how many teams in the MEAC have winning records; a lot. Their nonconference schedule includes several mid-majors. The MEAC may be a smidge better than the Big Mouth. Ergo, I think the ladies would win a rematch with Liberty, but it's hard to see any other wins outta those 4. Whatever the case, our ladies are doin da business!!!!!

Your leaving out the "nutt factor." The nutt factor, which generally comes into play when we play a "melanin challenged" team with a winning record in any sport, causes us to do things like miss layups and get stupid calls. That's always been good for a minimum four point swing to the other team's advantage. Read the history. It's happened too many times for me to discount it.

Look at this link and tell me how anything bad can be said about our girls...considering the support that ISN'T given by admin. Look at this link. realtimerpi.com/rpi_Women.htmlThey are 76 out of 341. Give me a break man. VT is 1-11 in the ACC.

Well, the teams we're discussing in this thread are as follows:
Liberty (rpi 27, strength of schedule rank 127) Va Tech (rpi 92, but beat us by 29 points, strength of schedule rank 32) NC State (rpi 61, strength of schedule rank 66) Texas A&M (rpi 12, strength of schedule rank 6)
Va Tech is 1-11 in the ACC, and we've never beaten an ACC team. Hmmmmm. By the way, according to the link you provided, our strength of schedule rank is a whopping 238. I guess that kind of bolsters my argument.
Now I'm not trying to take anything away from the fact that we are having an AWESOME year. But this thread didn't ask "are the Lady Aggies having an awesome year?" It also didn't make and allowances for the purported lack of support by the administration. It asked if they could beat either of the teams that beat them before... NOW. I say no. You don't have to hit me over the head a thousand times before I start paying attention to history. Y'all are hoping and trying to rationalize us into something that history tells us is highly unlikely. If we play all four of those teams again next year we will be 0-4 or at best 1-3 because one of them had to rebuild.
Don't hate the player.

You make some valid points, but you're also doing some serious hating right now. If what you are saying is the case, then why pull for any of the teams. The MEAC is weak in every sport if you want to compare them to the ACC, Big East, Big 12 etc. I mean, that's the basis for me saying that people are idiots for thinking that Eaves signing someone early to a MEAC school is special. It's not, the MEAC is weak. That being said, the men's team fails to win on a consistent basis and the football team is not worth mentioning. Furthermore, these girls are 2 games away from having the best record EVER at A&T. It's not like the MEAC used to be some super conference. The talent pool in this conference is the same as when we were losing every year. These girls have risen up so high, that all the haters (the ones that are left) can do now is compare them to schools that have quadruple the recruiting budgets and facilities that make us look like an elementary school. What they are accomplishing is special. Winthrop just beat Liberty the other night. Our girls were tied with A&M with 3 minutes to go and tied with NC State with 7 minutes to go. That lets me know that if they believe, they can achieve against those schools. I respect people's opinion, but this is the only team that may do this (run a Boston in the MEAC) as long as you are, literally, living!!! Enjoy it.

There's good arguments all around on this topic, but I still say that the women could beat Liberty again. They've gotten better as the season has progressed, although I sometimes see a bit of complacency in their game. But they're still a quality side.

aahhbigboy,
You're emotionally veering waaaay off topic. Most of your post isn't addressing the topic. That might be because if you take off your Aggie shirt for a minute and objectively look at what I'm saying, you know I'm right. They don't award wins for being tied with somebody with forever to go in the game. That also is a poor barometer of whether you'd actually be able to beat them if you played them again.
I also don't see where I said I'm not enjoying it. I do see where I said they're having an awesome year. I put it in all caps and you still managed to ignore it. That being said, that ain't the topic of the thread.
I ain't typed I'd cheer for the other team. I ain't typed I hope we'd lose. I looked at the evidence (the best of which you actually provided, thanks) objectively and said, no chance. If you see it differently, that's cool, but it's pretty solid to me.
dh, the women can't beat Liberty again. They ain't beat them before. While they have gotten better as the season progressed, look at the schedule. Do you realized that a third of the teams we've gotten better against are in the bottom 30? How much better are they really? Only the ncaa's will tell. But I already know.

I see where you are coming from by comparing the competition. Really I do. All I'm saying is that we have REAL talent and the added confidence that they have gained COULD be the difference in rematches against all of those teams.
They have to play whose on their schedule....and their average win is by 22 (I think) points in the conference. On bad nights, on road games, they are killing the competition. They are beating teams like any of those 4-5 teams would if they played in the MEAC.
Dooms, I normally would be on your side of the argument, but I really think these girls are that good. Most of these teams probably wouldn't want to play A&T right now, and for good reason.

I agree with almost all of your points there except I think the other teams would be dogging our comp by 40+.
I also think they're that good, I also think that most of those teams probably wouldn't want to play us right now, but I know I've seen enough of us (and not just us, but a lot of hbcus) go into the exact same situation with powerhouses and get straight dusted. This team is not different. When a pwc is scared of an hbcu talentwise, they scout the hell out of us and straight outcoach and outexecute us. That, along with the seasoning these other teams have gotten from playing better comp, would do us in even worse.
Off topic, come tourny time, if we get an NIT bid, I bet top dollar we win a game. In the NCAAs we will get our fine @sses handed to us.
If you took these same girls and gave them a steady diet of what Va Tech has been playing against, they would be 0-whatever in the ACC. You could also take those same girls that played Va Tech's schedule and ended up 0-whatever in the ACC, and put them against these girls that are undefeated in the MEAC, and watch the 0ferACC beat the pantyhose off of them.

NCA&T had a healthy Lonise Coulter ( tallest player on the team) prior to the conference schedule. She is now hurt , no size has been a problem since she left, 8-9 games ago.

liberty is a good mid-major program who can play with most schools but will have a hard time beating a top 10 team... we are on liberty's level... we can play with most teams but the top 10 teams are on another level... unc duke & maryland would crush us the same way they are crushing the other teams in the acc... which says we are on par with other acc teams accept those schools in the top 10... we can beat any 4 of those schools but bland is going to have to be on fire.... i notice this thread didn't include baylor.... why... ... because baylor showed us why they are a top 10 team... the next step is to get quality size & shoot for a top 70rpi or better... & go from there...

We are not quite on Liberty's level but on any given night we could beat them. If we win our remaining games, including the tourney we may get a top 70 rpi ranking. Last year Coppin finished at #72.
