I wish him well but more than likely he'll be another "little fish in a big pond."

This has the makings of another Jamal Edwards saga.

Congrats to him. That was a better "Life" move. The experiences and connections that he will have/make there will far exceed any of his other choices. I applaud him for making the right decision.

i dont think that kids really understand what preferred/invited walk on means...plain and simple, you work as hard as everyone else, with virtually no chance of hitting the floor...did this kid get it explained to him that way? secondly, is he paying to play?.....as far as life experiences and connections, it's going be hard for me to believe that this kid will stay 4 years anyway if he's not playing..
take it from me, a coach and a father of 2 decent basketball players; every kid on the roster wants to play, and very few ball players stay in bad situations...this has all the makings of a very bad situation...perhaps he will remember us after he gets enough time watching kids who are not as good as him play...

Mark this down and tuck this away for future reference. He'll be most likely calling us or someone like us before midway of the fall semester in October.

Aggie82 you are so correct. Even Va. Tech's Seth Greenberg admitted that he offered Steph Curry a chance to walk-on but also told him he would have to red shirt his freshman year and still wouldn't play much after that. We all know he made the right decision to turn that offer down.

Exactly. That was the right decision for Curry. Someone of that talent level should never want to sit on a football school's bench, lol. I agree.
But, if it is one of the most storied schools in basketball history with one of the top tv contracts in the land, then it's a no brainer. When you take a trip to Corbett and then you take a trip to Rupp, then it's a no brainer. When the players tell you on the recruiting trip how much you make (off the record) from boosters, multiple BS summer camps, selling tickets etc., then it's a no brainer. He may never touch the court and that may be true, but if the people around him(parents, family) can keep him looking at the big picture, then the decision is a no-brainer. Point blank. The mistake is really when the preferred walk-on wants to leave. Plus, he had to know someone to get that spot just for those reasons. Just another view. Not right, not wrong, just another.

so he settles for a jersey to be apart of something...i would not encourage my son to be a bench warmer for 4 years just for connections...college is supposed to be a learning experience....and the best 4-5 years of your life...and again, as a basketball player, it's no fun knowing that you are never going to play...i am not necessarily encouraging him to come to A&T....I stand by this 100% when I say that a kid should go where he can play...if's he's going to school for connections, then dont try to mix that with basketball...just be a regular student...
