4XL: do you think the civic center... if built with the proper amenities ( wt. room, practice courts, locker room space etc) would solve dsu problems?? because i'm with maxwell on this one.... dover is the capital... there has to be more for kids to do than in fargo, nd. or brookings, sd..... and do you think the capital city would push for an annual meeting with dsu & univ. of del. if a civic center is built... which should generate local excitement.... I think it would help. But there is truly nothing to do in Dover. So if a kid wants an enviornment where he can concentrate on books and play some pretty decent basketball, then DSU is the place. Jackson's advantage is that he can reach farther ( recruiting dollars) than most of the schools in the conference and that will allow him to find some diamonds in the rough.

i think jackson is a talented coach but until they advance to the "sweet 16" or start knocking off some top teams like ganzaga does... jackson may have to build that civic center... brick by brick himself...

Damn , if he gets to the sweet 16, he will be able to write his own ticket....he does need to get some quality wins until that happens. I just want to see some HBCU GET ANOTHER DAMN NCAA WIN..2 WINS AND I WOULD ......

Chances are slim to none that he'd get to the Sweet 16. If he messes around and loses any game in the MEAC tournament he's not in the big dance as long as he's coaching in the meac. I'm sure that weighs on his mind.

You're asking a 16th or a 15th seed to get to the sweet 16.

NOPE..... i'm just answering dsu's AD question... why no one is knocking down jackson's door because he is a talented coach??? you make it to the sweet 16.... they will tear it off the hinges!!! another thing you have to look at is how your team performs in nonconference gms... ganzaga beats unc... while dsu looses to mich. st. by 35pts.... that is not going to have the upper mid-majors exalting the claim that you are the next up and coming superstar in the coaching ranks... " we need to hire him & fast"... it's not going to happen until you become a thorn in the big dogs side!!!

Not many hbcu coaches will get opportunities to move up the mid-major ladder. I want to see which hbcu will jump at the chance to re-hire Merfield (ex-hampton coach).

Well, they better also hire WSSU Coach Collins as Merfield's top recruiter because without both of them you won't have what you saw on TV five years ago in HU upset over Iowa State.

4XL: a 15 seed has a good shot at making the sweet 16.... lets not forget coppin was a last 2nd shot away from the sweet 16 against texas!!! if it were not for the crooked refs coppin would have beaten texas... and still had a chance at the end!!!
but lets keep in mind coppin matched up extremely well with carolina(usc) & texas.... plus coppin had 3 starters avg. around 20pts/gm apeice!!!

I remember that well. But that's more the exception than the rule. Plus, it didn't get Fang out of Coppin.
