Didn't I read somewhere that Greg Jackson had asked his AD to assist him in seeking a coaching position at a "major" or majority school?? If so, what do you think of his chances after his loss to FAMU?
Personally, I don't think that he would have been a serious candidate at a "major" school. He may get some courteous interviews.

He can coach at a higher level than Del. State.

I agree. I also would imagine that some other coaches in the conference, as well as the SWAC could coach at another level. What level are you thinking about?

I think greg Jackson should try to be the best coach in the MEAC. He lost the FAMU game himself. It's funny, when MEAC coaches have some success they think they are the greatest since sliced bread. I believe Greg Jackson is a good coach but Del. St. lost to FAMU and Morgan St. and could have lost to A & T. They didn't run away from the MEAC. A few years ago, we were saying the same thing about Fang. Have you forgot about Don Corbett. All decent coaches can be good at another level, with the proper funding.

He wants out from DSU because lack of of fan base, and limited administrative support as demonstrated in the recent public statements by their AD and Chancellor on HBCUs and their role not to mention the fact he is a senior laden team and will have to rebuild from the floor up next year.
Look for him to take an assistant's job at a big program or try to make a move to a middle of the road mid major.

DSU would be OK if he leaves. Bernard is a good coach (if he stays).

Reminds me of Duckett from WSSU. He's still sitting on the sidelines at USC, ain't he?

I see two speed bumps in front of Greg Jackson that may hurt him from getting what he wants a good mid-major school. His salary is already at the top for mid-majors at $220,000 plus a small incentive. Secondly, if you are an AD and not only are you looking to improve your program but you also want butts in the seats then Jackson's boring offensive philosphy will turn you off.
Jackson's success in the NIT this year could remove those two speed bumps.

Jackson was an assistant under Bernard at NCCU before becoming head coach there.

Bottom line is that Jackson is a good coach. He only needs an opportunity, just like some of the other coaches in the conference. I'm sure that he will adjust his philosophy to the talent that he is able to recruit.

Jackson is over rated. What he did with that talented team this year boarders on criminal. He recruited kids that fit his style of play. Had an excellent four year run.Two or three championship game appearances. One NCAA appearance and two NIT appearances if I'm not mistaken. I'll take that "criminal charge" any day of the week...

No he recruited players that could do well in any system but would really excel at a more up tempo pace. How many MEAC teams or mid-majors for that matter have a McDonalds All-American playing for them? He has talent on his team thats as good as, if not better than Davidson or Winthrop. Those two teams have been able to compete with major schools and Winthrop even cracked the top 25. DSU with a very talented senior laden team should have been one of the best mid-majors in the country this season. They underacheived big time!

He played the best style that was suited for winning which he did. And did well. Since he was at practice with them everyday and brought them to DSU in the first place, I am sure that he put them in the best position to win. They could not have won 20 plus games with an uptempo style. I don't know what you are looking at but I don't believe DSU could have beaten Winthrop.
