McEachin made 1st Team All-Tidewater. The area includes Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Suffolk. Players from public and private high schools are eligible for All-Tidewater team. I personally have not seen Chris McEachin play. I did not make it to any high school games this year. I normally make it to a few games and attend the local districts and eastern regional tournaments but I got tied up this year.
I may get a chance to see McEachin play in the Boo Williams Basketball Invitational in a few weeks if he is not 18 years old as of yet and if Boo Williams has selected him to play on his AAU team.

6'8 guard who averages 19,8 and 6. Why isn't he being heavily recruited?

Pep talk pays off for Norview's McEachin By LARRY RUBAMA, The Virginian-Pilot © January 9, 2007
NORFOLK - Norview boys basketball coach Eric Williams knew he had to have a heart-to-heart talk with one of his star players before the start of this season.
Williams feels Chris McEachin has Division I talent, but Williams didn't want McEachin to fall into the same trap he did some 20 years ago.
"Chris reminds me a lot of myself when I was in high school," said Williams, who played in the Washington, D.C., area before going to St. Augustine's in Raleigh, N.C. "I had all the talent in the world, but I just didn't work hard enough. "I was satisfied playing Division II ball, but I knew I could have played Division I. I don't want to see the same thing happen with Chris."
Williams sat McEachin down and told him he had to work harder. He had work on his jumper. He had to play with more intensity. He had to be more aggressive on defense.
"I remember that conversation real well," McEachin said with a wide smile. "I don't want to be a Division II player; I want to play Division I. I mean, I know I'm not going to play pro basketball, but I want to experience the Division I atmosphere."
So he listened. After averaging 12 points a game as a junior, McEachin is at 18 points a game as a senior for one of the top teams in South Hampton Roads this season.
So far, he has received a lot of non-Division I interest, including from Virginia Wesleyan and Mount Olive (N.C.) College.
"I told him he could stay here and play Division III or go play Division I," Williams said. "It's his choice on where he wants to go."
"He can flat-out shoot," Williams said. "I thought before this season that he could possibly be not just our top scorer but one of the best in the area. Now he just needs to continue to work defensively."
McEachin, 17, thinks it's just a matter of time before the Division I interest comes.
"I always felt I could play Division I ball because I'm a 6-foot-5 shooting guard," said McEachin, who has scored 20 or more points six times this season, including a 36-point performance against Wilson. "I also can finish around the basket and take contact."
Williams thinks McEachin has been overlooked because he doesn't play for a major AAU team.
"(Teammate) Kendrix Brown has interest from schools like Tulsa and Marist because he played with Boo Williams," Eric Williams said. "A lot of people don't know about Chris. But I think something really big is going to happen for him."

This kid was scheduled to meet coach EAVES in feb when the BB team was in the tidewater area. We are looking HARD at him. They did talk. As important, did he come to either game we played in during our Tidewater trip? Is he 6-5 or 6-8?

I've got to believe 6'5". 6'8" is too good to be true.

Well, the 6'5" height is a quote from the kid himself.
"I always felt I could play Division I ball because I'm a 6-foot-5 shooting guard," said McEachin, who has scored 20 or more points six times this season, including a 36-point performance against Wilson. "I also can finish around the basket and take contact."

A 6-5 kid that NCA&T appears to be the only school in the region to think can play D-1 basketball...just because a kid wants you does not mean he is a player that can help you. Recall that 5-8 rb from SC that some wanted NCA&T TO sign..where did he go? D-3 schools are all over him ...that just does not sound right.....Hampton and Norfolk appear to not be interested....I would not be too excited about him unless someone on the board has seen him play, but all coaches think their kid......
