After listening and observing the bands in Raleigh lets me see how unprofessional our pep band is!! As much as I like them and as much they enhance the hype in Corbett.... they need work in certain areas....
1) How to arrive to a game ahead of time... not at tip off or at half-time!! The other MEAC bands were there 50mins before their game started!! While teams were going through warm-ups so were they.... our pep band on the other hand likes warm up while the game is being played!!!
2) Why does our band operate on "CP TIME".... when other bands are at the arena ready and enthusiastic about playing!!! I mean they were telling AMM to shut up.... " LET US PLAY"!!!!!
3) There is a beef going on.... even I can sense that.... I don't know if it's the band and the AD or the band and the school.... but something is going on and it needs to be delt with!!!!
4) Who funds the pep bands trip to Raleigh.... is it out of the band's budget or the school's?? This may be the truth of the matter.... when something is going wrong always follow the money line!!!
5) SCSU has my vote for best pep band.... they had catchy riffs and were johnny on the spot as soon as the commercial was over.... they wasted no time!!!! I wish they could have pulled it out against Morgan.... I really enjoyed them!!!!
6) Maybe we could get SCSU to play for us.... it didn't look like they were ready to go home!!!

#6 is blasphemy! #3 needs to be put to bed quickly and someone should be held to task.

maxwell.... about #6.... what can i say.... it was a joy seeing pep bands at the game 1hr early getting prepared to do something you could tell was fun for them!!
if you were at the morgan game when scsu plays there parliment funkadelic rendition of "stand up for the down stroke"... but they call it "stand up for the bulldogs...everybody stand up!"..... it's classic!!!

Before you all get your panites in a wad, they did a citywide concert last night at one of the Durham high schools for recruiting purposes that had been scheduled months ago way before the tournament dates.
They did one on Monday in Greensboro and got several kids to sign up for band camp this summer. They are looking to increase their size since they have some limited scholarship money to work with this year.

Ruff makes them go to their classes and finish before playing at basketball games. The odd starting times has a lot to do with it. When we have 7:30 or 4 pm games it usually isn't a problem.
Just try to keep this in mind, ESPN games at 7:00 on a Monday are tough because a lot of kids take 6 pm classes. Also a 12 p.m. start time for the girls game some 80 miles from G'boro just isn't easy to make especially on a spring break when kids are out except for those that live either in the RDU area or the Triad.

aggieone... i have to ask... we are the only school in nc in the meac which would make us the host school... doesn't it seem strange that every other school can get to raleigh but the host.... ?

Before you all get your panites in a wad, they did a citywide concert last night at one of the Durham high schools for recruiting purposes that had been scheduled months ago way before the tournament dates. Next year, work a deal with the conference to give area high school bandsmen free tickets the first A&T tournament game and sit near the pep band. Expand your recruiting to the RBC Center. High school kids would love that. Better yet, if all of the MEAC band directors get together and do something for the tournament as a recruiting event similar to the BOB done in Norfolk it would benefit all.

I wish they could have pulled it out against Morgan.... I really enjoyed them!!!! 6) Maybe we could get SCSU to play for us.... it didn't look like they were ready to go home!!! *#1- At the MEAC it was my understanding that the band was just getting off the road from their recruiting tour. We asked about that on Thursday night, about their absence. However, the band was ready at tip-off...Most of the chants throughout the game started from the band. At home,...we're students first. No questions asked. If you cannot get out of class in-time...then oh well. *#2- "CP Time"...well when you can't see Keith (who was running the ads and sound during the game) it makes it hard to start on time. Additionally, throughout the game there were random interruptions for things such as check presentations, ads, etc. So that kept both bands from being able to play. Suggestion, give the pepband director headsets to know if they can or can't play *#3- What type of beef, elaborate??? Remember, Band is a class...so now band resides and reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on operations and funding. *#4- See the answer to number 3 for our band. *#5- No Comment... each band has qualities that make them the best in each persons' eyes. I think after some recruiting, some new hires...we will have an excellent Marching Band, Concert and Symphonic Bands and Pep Bands. *#6- We got kicked out...Cheerleaders, SGA and the Band were kicked out before we were able to play our Alma Mater for our 116th Founder's Day. March 9, 1891-March 9, 2007- Celebrating 116 years of Education However, the issue with leaving so quick also depends on if the band is staying in town, who's driving the bus, how much time is left on the bus drivers "driving hours", etc and etc. Overall...I'm proud of our Pep Band...they did alot of traveling over this one week...and still found time to be at the games.

I have to give props to famu.... these guys probably have every john phillips susa march known memorized!!! at the championship game saturday the paa gave a shout-out to those who serve or have served in the military and asked them to stand and for everyone to give them a round of applause for protecting our freedoms.... famu broke out with the "stars and stripes forever"... nailing every note to the "T"..... it was right on time and they got a standing ovation!!!
The meac has some bad pep bands...!!!! they ought to have a pep band competition also!!!
