My philosphy would be to not force passes in the half court and not have my power forwards and big men try to start fast breaks. We don't have any big men!

Maxell, I agree with you that we don't have a big man and that they are hard to find. But do you feel the team is missing a point guard, also? If I have to find fault with Eaves it is that he hasn't found or developed a point guard. I think that Eaves should have had a good point guard by now moreso than having a dominate big man. A point guard is less difficult to find and less difficult to develop but still this task is not easy.
It is difficult for me to believe but true, that from this point forward the Aggies have just as much chance to end up being a 9th seed as being a 5th seed. I wouldn't have said this a week or so ago.

We don't have many good ballhandlers on this team.

And he doest have the dollars to get those people that the great progonosticators on the board think we should have. SEND THE CHECKS.. and let the coaches coach... understand that Jerry has the WORST recruiting budget in the conference.

Some of the schools that are beating us have about the same recruiting budgets that we have, some even worst than we do. It's about being able to work with what you have and recognize talent better.

When people starting holding Eaves accountable for his team's poor performances, then we will start to get better. If you just continue to give him a pass based solely on how bad the program was that he inheritted, then we will continue to be mediocre.
It's time that Eaves and this entire program developed a sense of urgency.

Money really isn't the sole solution.
I think it's past time folks realized we don't have money. Accept it and find ways to work without it already. If we don't have a division I budget badgering people who ain't or can't afford to prop up the budget to give simply IS NOT A SOLUTION.
It's like when people get a raise and still end up in the poorhouse. You have to learn to be successful within your current budget before running around talking about I don't have this and I don't have that. If the budget is the root of all our problems then we need to move to the CIAA and everybody needs to shut the hell up about the budget. If the budget isn't the root of all our problems then we need solutions that don't involve being robbed at gunpoint.

He has had four big men (no talent), and four years. We have got to stop making excuses for failure. Again! What year should Eaves be expected to have A&T as one of the elite in the conference?? Should it be in 2008, 2009, or 2010? How many years should he be given?? Next year will be his fifth.
If you have watched enough of their games, you realize that there is a problem with the point guards creating or orchestrating (decision making) a flow offensively. They don't handle the ball that well and there is no inside game at all. There is not enough floor balance in scoring (inconsistent shooting/poor shot selections). The team has a problem defending the base line and perimeter when the pressure defense is broken (give up easy 2pts or 3pts). One major problem is finishing the game when they have a lead. Their inability to make free throws down the stretch and handling ball possession without turning it over (usually by making a bad decision) on a poor pass. Sometimes Eaves may have one scorer on the floor at a time in the game when he needs some points.
Oh well, perhaps next year will be our time to shine. It appears we are headed for the dreaded play-in game, if we don't go on a six game winning streak.

Good point Dooms- I don't think Coppin State budget is all of that but except for this year Coppin usually finish in the top 4 of the MEAC each year in men basketball. Plus look at that 38 game winning streak in the conference that the women are doing

Let's simplify things:
Is Eaves the best coach for A&T men's basketball? Meaning is he the best coach we can afford to pay that is willing to and able to work within the constaints of our program? If not we need to identify a better one and go get him. If so then we need to accept his limitations and continue to be patient. If we're unsure then I'd rather go with the evil I know then allow us to go out and try to hire somebody new.

I don't have the same type of enthusiasm that I have with Coach Bibbs. I think I would have rather waited until the season is over. Recruiting a quality Big man or steal a blue chipper is still a issue me. trues you are not alone in this sentiment. I'm hearing this wait crap from quite a few alums. Wait for what? This guy has been here four years, we either think he can keep building the program or we don't. Apparently, the Leadership thinks he can keep building the program. I'm inclined to agree on several levels, money, stability and potential. Dude appears to be willing to do the job for less than a $100k. Hell, we can't even get AggieJazz ;D for less than $100k. For me the unknown is to scary, especially with our track record of hires. We have some stability let's build on it, not restart. I will agree he will need to have two very solid recruiting classes (this year and next) to keep this thing going, because next year he will five or six seniors I'm glad most of these MoFos can't write a significant check up in this camp. We would have three or four coaches a season.

We shot 82% from the free throw line against BCC..... we just didn't shoot well from the field. This is a competitive team that's missing some key pieces to be a great team...... we've only lost 2gms this yr. by 20pts..... that's a far cry from previous yrs. The key now is for us to find the shooting touch we had in back in DEC!!! But in the BCC game I knew we were jinxed when whoever plays the house music cut the pep band off from playing the player introductions which screwed up the cheerleaders dance routine they do at half court.... and it was all down hill from there!!!
We all complained about the pep band not being there and now that they're in the house it seems the house music-man has a vendetta against them. The house music-man did a great job when the pep band was not at Corbett!! But the atmosphere is greatly enhanced by they're presence.... so let the kids play..... I mean you guys should have it worked out better on who is going to play and when.... but the pep band should be given first option..... except on the Q'S song!!!!

The pep band lost that privaledge when they decided to go on cross-country field trips duing home games. The house DJ is what gets the crowd crunk nowadays.
