Telling Rob Daniels that they will be back and releasing an official statement is basically the same exact thing. The bottom line is that the word got out to the fans that they were coming back in Dec. and expectations were raised. Nobody told Rob Daniels that they would be back when he wrote that piece in December. What about that don't you understand???

I give Eaves a final grade of A-minus. I give Eaves an A-minus because he designed an offense and defense that gave his team the optimum chance to win in every game. If he had used a different style of offense or defense this year’s team probably would not have been as successful with 15 wins.
I am cautious about the Aggies’ team next year. The MEAC conference got a whole lot better in less than a year with new coaches Bozeman and Nickleberry adding to the mix of Jackson, Mitchell and Gillespie. Fang Mitchell has to bee scrambling for better players because his Coppin State team was out of the mix the whole year. If Jackson stays, you can count on a stubborn Del State team with player of the year candidate, Bright. Gillespie will try to continue having strong athletic players on his FAMU team. Now, come the two star coaches of the MEAC, Bozeman of Morgan State and Nickleberry of Hampton. Hampton already have young and talented players with more to come and you can bet that Bozeman have talented players coming. Morgan State also has a talented center from Senegal who can leap out the arena. The center blocked the same shot twice with the right hand and then left hand in last week’s tournament semi-final against Del State.
Next year the MEAC teams will be ready for A&T’s style of offense. Eaves already know that he must get better players next year. There has been one glaring weakness in Eaves recruiting and that is his transfers. So far, only one of the transfers has been very successful and that is Rush. Ewing has been good and the rest just haven’t panned out. A&T was a third seed in this year’s MEAC Tournament but I can see A&T slipping to sixth if Eaves don’t get the players that can play right away or by mid season. I am mainly worried about the players at the forward and center position. Even if they slip to sixth place next year I think they will be in good shape to again compete for the top spot the following year, Rush’s final year.

All the teams that you mentioned with the exception of Hampton, have a lot of rebuilding to do. Del State had six seniors, 4 in the starting line-up. The big boy from Morgan was a grad student, he has no more eligibility and Timus, their best player was also a senior. FAMU has a few seniors, but they also seem to re-tool faster than most teams. I like our chances with what we have, and to add some size would be great, 6'6-6'8 that can score, defend and rebound around the basket. JMO

Two years at UNC-A, two years at A&T that's four!! Next year it’s “do or die”, because we will have seven seniors on the squad, all contributors. Like I have been saying all along this year is a huge recruiting year and next is even bigger. I don’t see anybody on the bench picking up kinda load.

This will be a senior ladden team and probably will get mentioned as the Pre Season favorite. If there is slipping next year we will be in a world of hurt in the future.

Coppin State, Delaware State and FAMU are rebuilding but I have so much respect for ‘Fang’, Jackson and Gillespie that I still feel they will have a team ready to compete for the top spot next year. They may fall short but their history indicates you can’t count them out. Morgan State’s Bozeman has already proved in one year that he can make something out of what seems to be not much. Bozeman knows the AAU circuit and from what I hear about his recruiting going on now, he will bring in players who could make the all-MEAC teams next year.
I was wrong on Rush’s eligibility. I thought he only played one year at UNC-Ashville. Eaves really does have his work "cutout' for this spring and summer.
I think Bozeman and Nickleberry are stars of the MEAC. Most basketball guys or geeks think that the MEAC is lucky to have two young coaches who have this much potential and energy as these two. Of course some would say that Bozeman is not that young and is an outlaw. There is no doubt that both of these guys can recruit.
I plan to be out on the AAU basketball circuit a little bit this year.

Bozeman came in as a star with a cloud or baggage. He has seen the top of the mountain, just lost his footing and tumbled down. Do you folks think that he is using MSU as a stepping boulder to move back to the top???
Gillespie, according to the Democrat several years ago, tested the waters for a move to a mid-major. He wasn't selected by the school, but he did look to move. We all know about the articles written about Corbett not being considered during the 70s and 80s. The climate is a little different today with the ACC having seven African-American coaches. Other conferences also seem to be more open to minority coaches. However, it appears that those coaches were assistants in major programs.

Well he has four grants available for this spring and seven next year. Best find him a couple of of above average four spot inside guys, a point, and another shooting guard this signing period if we want to win this thing outright. That is exactly what we need for '08.

I think this offseason will expose just how bad of a recruiter Eaves is.

I agree. Cut the football funding and give Eaves a chance to prove he sucks or he doesn't. We already know what we're gonna get on the football field.

Morgan States' bad mother--shut your mouth
Boubacar Coly F 6-9 Jr. Ziguinchor, Senegal/Laurinburg Institute
I don't think the LI coach showed him to Eaves. I was there in Raleigh a couple of years ago when the LI coach brought a bunch of stiffs to a local gym to workout for Eaves and other college coaches. These guys were not on the Prep team but on the B and C high school teams, also attending was UNC-G and Campbell coaches.
