Take a 50% pay cut to run around that den of incompetent jackasses? No thanks.
I think I care too much to be directly associated with the school as an employee. Not to mention I'm probably out of their price range.

If you become Legal Counsel you can help get rid of some of the incompetent jackasses. Plus, you and the Mrs can move into our guest bedroom to help save money.

University legal counsel doesn't have anything to do with employment other than advising on following proper termination procedures and calling an outside firm to handle any litigation arising as a result of termination.

I don't think it would be a 50% cut unless you are making about $250k now, and even then your work week goes to 40 hours. When was the last time you worked 40 hours. How about that commute, when is the last time you got home in 15-20 minutes or didn’t get up at the crack of dawn? You would have a hand in the policy and strategic direction of the University. Plus you get to stay in the El Presidente spare bedroom, life doesn't get any better than that alone.

Man, just imagine all the weekend spades tournament the four of us could have. Plus, we could put you and the Mrs into the rotation for midnight baby duty.

Apparently the audits that were done while Dr. Renick was in charge and the audits just completely were quite different. I got word from two employees that they were asked questions about the handling of their financial budgets. The employees did not have a problem with how this audit was done. What some of the employees were happy about was that during this audit everyone who managed a budget (we are not talking secretaries) were asked questions and probing questions.
The probing questioning of everyone didn't happen in annual audits while Renick was there. During Renick tenure only certain people were made to answer questions about their budgets and they were normally the ones under the gun by higher authorities for personal reasons and not for business reasons.

The reason they dug deeper is because of the information they received thru the employee hot line, I won't call it a confidetial line anymore.

DOOMS is up at 5 am, out the door at 5:35 am and doesn't return home until almost midnight. Seven days a week, six if I'm lucky. And in my spare time I do payroll and legal for my uncle and I still take a side client every now and then. While I have no desire to work for A&T I also have no desire to keep this mess up too much longer. But again, no desire to work for either one of my alma maters. That desire passed a few years ago.
Back to the topic as bad as this stuff sounds I'm pretty happy. I'm happy because it's finally out in the open and something will be done about it. I'd heard about some of it years ago and I'd tell folks. Nobody'd believe me and as a result nothing was done. While I'd much rather it not be played out in the paper if it insures we will better adhere to policies and procedures and in the end make us a better A&T I'll take a little bad press.

$143K may be missing from A&T
By Taft Wireback and Lanita Withers Staff Writers
N.C. A&T is reporting the potential misuse of nearly $143,000 in school assets, about 12 times the amount it initially reported to the state government as part of a critical audit released last week.
The university reported the additional amount of possibly misused "university assets" in a letter that the State Bureau of Investigation received Thursday.
The letter augmented A&T's initial SBI report in November, which said $11,583 in university property could not be found.
"After further investigations by the university police department, the university's internal auditor and the North Carolina State Auditor, it appears that the university may experience a potential loss of an additional $131,000," Vice Chancellor Willie T. Ellis Jr. wrote in the May 25 letter.
Last week, the UNC system released a critical audit of A&T that, among many other things, urged a criminal investigation into potential fraud, including the $11,853 in state property missing from a program for doctoral candidates in engineering.
That was among roughly $2 million in state and federal money the audit said had been misappropriated, overspent, illegally solicited or otherwise misused in recent years.
The audit also recommended state, federal and school authorities look into the potential misuse of other grant money or student stipends.
It's unclear whether the additional $131,000 in potentially lost state property is linked to the Future Engineering Faculty Fellowship program, from which the initial $11,853 in equipment was reported missing. It's also unclear whether the additional loss is new or includes abuses already reported and detailed in other parts of the audit.
Efforts to reach Ellis, the vice chancellor for business and finance, were unsuccessful Friday.
The News & Record requested and received Ellis' letter from the SBI as a public document.
An SBI spokesman said the agency would review it and contact A&T to see if the school needed additional help in its continuing investigation.
In previous fallout related to the audit, former A&T official Rodney Harrigan already faces criminal charges that include embezzlement; he's accused of improperly diverting more than $70,000 in rebates for school purchases of information technology and telecommunications equipment.
In addition, Marlena Joyce Dillon, a former administrative assistant in the School of Agriculture, was sentenced in January to a suspended jail sentence and probation for thievery that ultimately cost A&T nearly $55,000.
Last week's investigative audit was prepared by UNC system officials who over the past eight months looked into issues that, in many cases, were unearthed by A&T's own internal auditors, other school officials and reports from anonymous tipsters.
As the UNC system's auditors gathered information last fall, the school filed an initial State Property Incident Report with the SBI. That report included an itemized list of the $11,853 in property allegedly missing from the faculty fellowship program, including a $2,400 laptop computer, a $1,100 camcorder, a $400 digital camera and thousands more dollars in computer equipment.
The program director of the fellowship, Anna Anita Huff, 44, of Greensboro, was fired Sept. 11. The program was financed through a grant from the federal Office of Naval Research.
Efforts to reach Huff for comment have been unsuccessful.
Other parts of the audit said Huff approved the program's highest-ever stipend of $66,733 for her husband, who was a fellow in the program,
Auditors said she also authorized high-cost motel accommodations for him at $5,500 per month, as well as travel for one or both of her daughters to conferences in Jamaica, California, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

The Wicked Witch of East Market Street should just do the honorable things and resign. Her leadership as chair of the board of trustees has been abysmal.
