Under Renick's watch there was a confidential phone line set up for employee's and other to call to report wrong doing by other staff members. That is how they found out about Harrigan not by the auditors. I was told that the person that called the confidential phone line on Harrigan was George Small's wife. A lot of A&T's emloyees knew that something wrong was going on with Harrigan and the other person involved. Some of them were talking about this before it hit the press a few months ago. Hopefully with all of this coming out, now people will think twice before trying to steal from the university.

If you were told Mrs. Small dropped dime then that line wasn't very confidential.

We know that this day and age nothing that is labled confidential is really confidential, not even the "grand jury". I guess the term confidential is a misnomer in this case!!!

I think Renick might deserve to take a little more heat than some have been giving him. "The mother of Harrigan's executive assistant received a vendor contract after the vice chancellor "assisted the Bid Committee with evaluating the vendors." The committee originally ranked the woman third for the job, but after the vice chancellor's input, the assistant's mother was bumped to the top spot and selected.
The mother was later prepaid $18,000 for work that she hadn't performed, a claim supported by falsified documents, the report says."That's second in command and does reflect poorly on the Chancellor. IMO After reading the report I learned that the above allegations occured in June, July and August 2006. Renick was in D.C. Try again.

I just want the problems fixed and solutions in place. But, if you don't see something wrong with one of the Chancellor's highest ranking employees being implicated in what is clearly some under the table dealings. You also don't have a problem with Halliburton receiving No Bid Contracts and gas being $3.50 a gallon ;D I also don't buy that it was a "One Time Deal" and he just waited until Renick left to get involved.

Who was the vice-chancellor to whom the article refers? The way the article reads, it is still refering to Rodney Harrigan.

In every business, agency, university and church, someone is always caught stealing money. They don't ever get caught until they get greedy and start thinking they will get away with it. In every case they eventually get caught. Thats the same thing that happen here at A&T. Harrigan got greedy and got caught. CEO's, Director's, Chancellor's and Preacher's don't know whats going on until someone in their organization informs them and then action is taken. Thats what happened here, someone informed the administration of what was going on and now they are taking care of this problem. I don't know why it's being made such a big deal!!

Interesting. I know her granddaughter and she was quite happy about this.
