Retain the name Aggie Village, but name each of the four buildings for one of the A&T Four. Do the dedication next February One (along with the other Winterfest activities )

Does anyone know why we have buildings named after every former president or chancellor except for Dr. Proctor. From what I hear from people that were here when he was president is that he was a good leader.

Oh yea, I think that one of the dorms should be named for Willie Grimes. We had a street name in his honor but that street was wiped out when we builded the New Scott Hall. Back in the day we tried to get Haley Hall named after Willie. A lot of students did not agree with naming the dorm after Alex Haley because he did not have any connections to A&T. All he did was write "Roots". What ever we name New Scott let it be someone with A&T connections.

I'd have to second Maxell's idea.

I like Maxell's idea too and that eliminates naming the lobby (who's idea was it to count that as a building)

However, the BOT considered the naming of the Scotts after the A&T Four. However, it did not pass for some reason. The outgoing SGA admin is communicating with the incoming admin to continue the push to have the renaming of the Scotts done.
E-mail me for more info about why it wasn't done.

BigBoy, Alex Haley's father (Simon) went to A&T in the early 20th century. (around 1918). He came up out of the Savannah, Ga area. You might remember the televison series 'Queen" about Haley's grandmother. Well, It was her son. Haley came to speak at A&T around 1985-86. Not too long afterwards they named Haley Dorm after it was found out that his father was/is an Aggie. Aggie Born, Aggie Bred, When I die I'm a Aggie Dead.

I think Haley Dorm was already named Haley around the time is was built. Naw, when it was first built it was unnamed but called "Senior Dorm". I don't know when it was named but it wasn't before least 1980.
