I didn't know that its actually possible to go to A&T and UNCG at the same time...Its officially called Dual Enrollment and it doesn't cost you a cent more (thanks financial aid) and because we're both in the NC system, all your work will transfer...
I noticed this earlier this semester when I was seeing some of my UNCG people on campus a lot. I asked one of em, and he was like their advisors tell them if they struggling with a class or just want a "taste" of the black college experience to go to A&T and take like a math or something. Its kind of a slap in the face cuz "the white people" are coming from the other side of town to take an "easier" math and science but I always wondered what it would be like to go to UNCG...
You can't take a major class at over there but pre-reqs like Math, Bio, PE, etc. can be taking at either school. I think its a good thing that A&T students DON'T know about and DON'T take advantage of...
Thats kind of the best of both worlds, what do yall think? Would yall have tested the waters while yall were at A&T, sometimes a culture shock will do you some good...
NOTE - UNCG AND A&T ARE NOT MERGING, WE DO HAVE A JOINT RESEARCH INITIATIVE THATS ABOUT IT AS FAR AS I KNOW

Interesting aggiemike, I guess the more opportunities that are available the better. However I been hearing that a lot of the Aggies in the Triad are concerned about what the Millennium Campus will look like in terms of which school, A&T or UNCG, will be the lead university. Think about it, we have all that acreage close to I-85 that folks will have easy access to and "they" wouldn't have to come anywhere near East Market. I think it's a good move as long as A&T is running the show. Has anybody heard anything about this?

I did something similar when I was in school. I'm from Wilmington and would take classes at UNCW during the summer. Since A&T and UNCW were both in the UNC System my classes would transfer. You can do this at any UNC school.
There were tons of people there from schools all over the place (NCSU, UNC, etc.). I took several Math and Science classes I know people were struggling with at A&T. People were saying the same thing then...they were saying it was "easier" than taking the course at their home University.
As for dual enrollment it's my understanding that A&T, UNCG, Benett, and some other schools in the area offer duel enrollment. If you are enrolled at one school you can take a few classes on another campus if you like.
It's not openly advertised, but you can do it.

This so-called dual enrollment has been going on for a long time now. I know that back in the 70's you could take classes at Bennett and UNCG. And as far as who will have the lead with the Millennium Campus, you can be sure that A&T will be the lead school, Renick has already promised this. Oh, and by the way, UNCG has always had some of their students in ROTC at A&T, and their students could pledge in A&T's frats-I don't know if that is still the case today.

I was in a Army Reserve Unit in Greensboro, and there were ROTC student that drilled with us from A&T, UNCG, and Elon. As it turns out A&T was the only school in the reigon that had a ROTC program. I think WSSU has one to, but I know students from UNCG and Elon were a part of the A&T program. They took classes at "T" and their main school.
I also met students from Bennett that took classes at A&T and even marched in our band.

I just hate the fact that UNCG people love bragging about them having the "African American Studies Department" and us not having one. Truth is, going to A&T is inherently a study in African American culture. Our teachers have been known to relate ANY subject (math, economics, etc...) to Black culture!

Shoot, they need an HBCU department. If you don't know your stuff prior to getting to an HBCU, your parents didn't do there jobs.

Doesen't UNC-C have a African American Studies Dept. some PWC even have Black Culture centers. The fact is they need them...and to add to that how many of those school require students to take classes in AA studies Stortly after I left A&T it was required that a student take 6 hours of "Black Studies"...I don't know it that's still the case now. And you are right...if you want to learn about black culture and history...just walk around our campus.

The same is true for a few schools here in the Triangle. I don't know how things work with NCCU and the schools in the region, but I know UNC and Duke students can be enrolled at one school and take classes at the other.

We still have a African-American Studies requirement in most majors of 3 hours.
Also, unless someone becomes an idiot and revokes our Land Grant Status...merger with UNCG shall never happen.
