3 N.C. A&T students die in car wreck on U.S. 421
From Staff Reports GREENSBORO - Three 19-year-old women who attended N.C. A&T were killed Tuesday after their car slammed into a tree just off a Guilford County road and split in half.
The car's driver, Carla Maria Marshall of Raeford, was wearing a seatbelt, according to the Highway Patrol. Two passengers were ejected after the wreck late Tuesday - Lynai Bree Thorne of Raeford and Tiffany Helene Kittrell of Alexandria, Va.
All three victims died at the scene near Julian, which is close to Guilford's border with Randolph County.
The car struck a tree around 10:30 p.m. The impact ripped the vehicle in half, authorities said. The vehicle's front section slid partly down an embankment, while the rear portion rested closer to the roadway.
The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway just south of N.C. 62, authorities said.
