Has anyone been down Market st. and seen the big bold gold(trimmed in blue) letters that they have installed on the smoke-stack at the heating plant. It spells out AGGIELAND. It is really eye-catching when you drive down E. Market st. I was told it was Renick's idea as part of E. Market st. beautification plan. If you haven't seen it, go see it.

Another good idea on a VERY long list Dr. Renick has accomplished. Can someone take a picture for the "remote" Aggies?

Yeah Bigboy....after puttin news out like that you got to give us a pic. All the "remote" Aggies would like to see what it looks like too. It's clear that JC wants the world to know that East Market St. is Aggieland! Can you imagine the impression this will make on the incoming freshman in the future?

It would be even cooler if they could make it light up at night.

Thanks 'Thrilla! It is cool
I like the lights idea. If the lights couldn't be permanent for some reason (cost), then light it up for special occasions (HC, Night games, graduation, school anniversary, etc.)

Nah I was for the lights idea, but what about the stack itself I'm sure that running electricity through it woulda been more difficult besides we dont want the ghetto neon sign with letters out on East Market

lolol I feel you on the ghetto factor aggiemike! Honestly, if you must light it up, I figure do it right. The only way I could see that being tastefully done is with baselight/spotlights. You know...the same ones used to light up other monuments like the Arch in St. Louis or any of the monuments in Washington. Low obstruction, high impact. But a smoke stack trimmed with Christmas lights = Welcome to Spookville! But, err uhh....lest we forget we have a bell tower on the way. I understand that's supposed to be pretty tall. Do they intend to light that at night/holidays? Those two would clash if they were both lit up wouldn't they? BTW, are those letters on the stack raised or are they painted on? I can't tell from the pic. Good stuff nonetheless....
