All that killing, running, suspense and drama....and Speilberg settles for THAT ending? Man please. They could have thought of a better way to kill the aliens than the damn ecosystem.
Batman was a million types better than this crap.

I agree the ending was weak as dish water soup, but that’s the way it ends in the book, the original radio broadcast, the original movie and the 1st remake and that's the way it will end in the next remake in twenty years.
But the worst summer blockbuster is Mr. and Mrs. Smith I fell asleep at least twice on that crap.

I would have to agree "War of the Worlds" had a very disappointing ending. I’m still trying to figure out how the aliens died. From what I think they died from in the movie was basically they were killed by Nature or either they just couldn't survive on earth am I right? The best movie so far this summer has been "Batman" going to see the Fantastic 4 this weekend. "Aggie77" I was going to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith this weekend also and u said it wasn't good lots of people told me it was a good movie. Maybe I should wait until it comes to the $3 movie!!!!

Your guess is as good as mine. To me it just seemed like Steven Speilberg got tired of directing and decided to wrap up filming a few weeks early. The Aliens in Independence Day had the same shield defense as WOTW's aliens, but at least Will Smith found a plausible way to destroy them.
You would think that if the aliens had planned all these thousands of years to take over the Earth, they would have at least factored in the environment.
