"I am not going to insult your intelligence by explaining the difference between volleyball and baseball on the international level. Let's just say that if you don't have the resources to go overseas and find them, (which FAMU does because their coach has international contacts) you are not going to beat them. That being said, given the circumstances it ain't no shame finishing second to FAMU. Now Morgan has gotten better. If you check some of the records from the mid to late '90s, Morgan was one of the top teams in the conference. "
Thanks for agreeing with me 4XLAGGIE all I'm pointing out is how far we're behind FAMU but what's dissappointing are the excuses on why we can't catch FAMU and why we will never catch FAMU. Both programs play D-1 volleyball but yet ours has no desire to be the best----- if that's the general attitude then why even play the sport? We could drop volleyball and bring back a sport that was on the verge of taking off---- MENS TENNIS!!! If the reason we can't touch FAM is because of they're overseas connections that didn't stop Florida who beat FAM in the first round of the NCAA'S. And you know what? All of Florida's players are from the US OF A!!! We seem to always come up with excuses whenever the task is difficult---- but as my old football coach would say "you got to get the job did son--- you got to get the job did"! And everyone knew what that meant ---- find a way to get it done ----- no excueses!!!

Our coaches have really hustled to put AGGIE BASEBALL ON THE MAP. Elon and none of the ACC schools we play will dare set foot in Memorial Stadium because that's how much they fear AGGIE BASEBALL!!! Now I know Volleyball's budget is larger than Baseball because of title IX, the problem is our Volleyball coach doesn't want get out there and hustle like Track, Baseball Softball and Mens and Womens Basketball!!! But let me let you in on a little secret---- If you are satisfied with 2nd place, you may have a hard time getting that!! Didn't Morgan State finish 2nd in the MEAC this year?

"So let me see if I understand your rationale truthseeker...Coach Sylvan doesn't recruit so the fact that she finished no lower than 3rd in the conference the last 2 seasons must be due to her outstanding coaching ability...or was it because the student athletes she doesnt recruit (according to you) just happen to be GREAT athletes...or is she just that damn lucky???either way, how does that make her anything but the most successful coach (thus far) in Dee Todd's tenure??? For regular season contests, she has had 4 conference losses the past 2 years. (FAMU in 2005 and 2006, Morgan 2006, and Deleware State).
And are u presuming that Coach Sylvan doesn't strive to win??"
SEEK ON.
To help you understand my rationale Runaggierun after everything you said about Coach Sylvan and let me add she was MEAC coach of the year last year!! With all that being said ---- when you answer the question---- are we any closer to winning the conference? The answer is still a resounding---- NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now to you it may sound like criticism but believe me it's consrtuctive criticism because it would be easy to just give up without even trying. I know overtaking FAMU will be no simple task---- it's going to be hard---- very hard!! So here are some observations to consider while you're out there on the recruiting trail Coach.
1) You're loosing 3 seniors---- trying to replace the Mitchell twins is a must. You need 3 big time offensive weapons as strong or stronger than Arleane.
2) Those big time weapons will have to have size---- you will not over take FAM if 50% or more of your roster is under 6-0!!!
3) Leave no stone unturned---- be at AAU EVENTS, track meets, basketball games because most volleyball players run track, play basketball or do both. Tierra Renoylds from Dudley 6-2 played basketball and was the State 3A 400m champ---- set a new State 3A record to boot. I don't know where she is going to college or if you tried to recruit her. But leave no stone unturned.
4) Recruit like you're trying to catch UCLA that way you will kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Not only will you have FAM taken care of but you'll give yourself a chance at winning in the NCAA playoffs!!!
5) If all your available resources are being taken away like everyone elses, only to be given to that black hole called football then all the blame for your failure rest entirely with the AD!!! And if that is so---- you have my deepest apology!!!!!!!
