The pitching arms that were strong at the beginning of the season have worn down. Fastballs that were in the high 80's are now in the mid to low 80's.That's serving on a platter. Our best hitters are still hitting in the high 3's low 4's but many of the other hitters are hitting just above .200 and some below.
The thing that got me today was that our fiielding was a little sketchy, that's mental.
Keep working, War Boys!

Team is struggling today. 9-0 W&M 5th inning Struggling? Or is it we just need a few more pieces to the puzzle. Outside of the unforced errors and mental lapses. I see this as a talent issue.

Our struggles begin at the position that is 60 feet, 6 inches away from home plate. Our pitching staff, albeit composed of quality young men and outstanding representations of the university, may not exactly be "Prime Time Players" ready for high mid-major conference baseball. Case in point: I believe of the 19 pitchers/players who can pitch who listed on the roster, Negishi, Brown, Williams, & Snyder, haven't thrown a pitch this season. Further, our Sunday starter, Evan Hart, has missed his last 3 starts. The ONLY lefty on the team, Thomas, can't find the strike zone, and after a nice performance against Wilmington, looked bad the rest of the appearances, and hasn't been seen since. To make matters worse, of the guys who pitch for us, maybe 3, possibly 4 can get it up there in the 90's. Just watch a game and listen to the opposing announcers clown our guys about their "low velocity" or "high school velocity." Pitching is a premium on every level, and the teams that have it are the teams that win.

It's gonna be disappointing is we miss out on the CAA tournament after the kind of start we had to this season. I knew we were still missing some pieces, but you wish the guys could have locked in and found a way to win a important series like this. I agree that it would be disappointing if we miss out on the conference tournament, but we still have time with 15 conference games left and we have already played 4 of the top 5 teams in the conference. This weekend will be an important series for us. We're playing home against Delaware who is in a 3-way tie for the 5th spot. If we can sweep them, we will move past them in the standings and will be no worse than 7th. At minimum, we need to at least win the series this weekend. It would set us up good because we have to go to Hofstra (3-9 in CAA) the following weekend. In fact, our remaining conference schedule gives up a good chance to finish strong and make the conference tournament.

Yeah, looks like yesterday we tried to go the opener route and tried to staff the remainder of game.
You can never have enough pitching, NEVER.
Keep grinding fellas.
