Hard to watch at times...but GOOD WIN! Free-throws!! Elon took 60 shots vs our 36... we allowed elon too many "offensive" rebounds, so i'm not surprised that they had a lot more shots than we did. but it was a quality win by our ladies that keeps us tied for 1st...

"defensive" play of the game? clark had some really nice "blocks" but the "defensive" play of the game was when bracone knocked the ball away from an elon guard not once, not twice, but "3 times"! and the 3rd time was the charm that led bracone to an uncontested layup for the lady aggies after she stole the ball from elon's guard.
that for me was the "defensive" play of the game...

GREENSBORO – A year ago, the North Carolina A&T women's basketball team started 6-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Aggies went on to post an 8-1 record during the first half of the conference season before going 4-5 over the second half. After the ladies' 56-42 win over the Elon Phoenix Sunday afternoon at Corbett Sports Center, A&T has won six straight to improve to 12-6 overall and, you guessed it, 6-1 in conference play. Junior guard Jordyn Dorsey led the Aggies with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists on 5-for-10 shooting. The Aggies remain in a first-place tie with Stony Brook. Elon fell to 7-13 overall and 3-4 in league play. "They want to get back to where we were last year but finish the job," said A&T head coach Tarrell Robinson. "(Assistant coach Asia Dozier) said sustainability. Is that a word? But our sustainability has to be on point this year, where it wasn't last year. I continue to say that to them because I want to remind them this is where we were last year. Now let's finish the job." A&T was a perennial power in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), winning four regular-season and three conference tournament titles in nine seasons under Robinson. The Aggies played their 25th game as a CAA program on Sunday, improving to 18-7 since joining the league. Despite the Aggies being under .500 in the second half last season, they finished only a game out of first place before losing in the first round of the CAA tournament due in part to injury and illness. ncataggies.com/news/2024/1/28/womens-basketball-a-t-wins-sixth-straight-to-remain-in-first-place-tie.aspx

North Carolina A&T 56, Elon 42 | Box Score North Carolina A&T (12-6, 6-1 CAA) extended its winning streak to six games following a 56-42 victory over rival Elon (7-12 3-4 CAA) at home on Sunday. The Aggies prevailed in a defensive battle, limiting Elon to 28.3 percent (17-60) shooting and the fewest points scored by an A&T Division I opponent this season. Jordyn Dorsey led the Aggies in scoring for the second time this weekend, contributing a game-high 15 points with four rebounds and four assists. Chaniya Clark and Maleia Bracone also reached double figures for A&T, scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Aggies trailed 15-14 after Elon’s Maya Johnson knocked down a jumper with under 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter; however, A&T held the Phoenix to five points in the second quarter and took a 21-20 lead at the break. A&T heated up after the intermission, shooting 57.1 percent (8-14) from the floor and 18-of-25 at the free-throw line in the second half, outscoring Elon 35-22. Johnson led Elon with nine points and added 11 rebounds in the effort. caasports.com/news/2024/1/28/womens-basketball-caahoops-wbb-recap-january-28-2024.aspx

CAA has a lot of very good defensive teams so it's important that we can win ugly by playing better defense than our opponent.
Hope the ladies are in shape for a tough February. It was at this point last season when we seemed to run out of gas. Can't let that happen again.

Nice win,but we revered back to our old selves with 22 turnovers. I know Campbell's game was an exception but it shows the difference of having to grind out a win verse cruising to a win.If this team make taking care of the ball a major priority they will do well the remaining of the season.

Halfway thru the CAA season, we are in a great position…now just have to finish 💪🏿! way too many more conference games to go. we're currently 6-1 in the conference, but we still have "11" more conference games to go. a lot can happen over the course of "11" more conference games. hopefully the "injury bug" won't hit us like last year. at a "minimum", i believe we would've made it to the tournament championship game had jazmin harris not gone down with an injury. she was our most valuable player last season and to me, her injury had more to do with us not making the tournament championship game than anything else...
