In my day the word was..."The tassel is worth the hassle." Today it's " I'm special, pamper me!"

In my day the word was..."The tassel is worth the hassle." Today it's " I'm special, pamper me!" A total different generation

Kids nowadays have something some of us older folks didn't have...options and access. They can go to any school they want, and expect similar facilities and amenities. Coming up short is not acceptable to them and they will let you know if they are not happy.
Some of the wining is excessive...but that's just what they were brought up on.

If I am paying $30K a year to go to school, the heat better be working when I get there.

I'm glad it's working. Hopefully, in future winters, the physical plant can withstand more extreme temps. It's not often the physical plant has to deal with temps in the teens for extended periods.

Truth be told, when I was a freshman several of my homies and I who were from out of state were planning to lodge formal complaints about the campus because we felt our tuition wasn't covered by the accommodations.
We can say these kids are spoiled (and at first that was my thought too) but we have to realize they have options. If enough of them start exercising those options we lose a ton of momentum. Job one is to make sure they're educated. Job 1A is to make sure they're happy.

i don't think the students are spoiled. they have every right to expect there to be "heat" in the buildings that impact them. shoot, i live in my own home now but back in the day when i had an apartment, let the doggone "heat" go out when there's temperatures in the teens outside. i would've been "blowing up" the landlord's phone until it got fixed...

It doesn't matter if you are paying $100k a year, equipment will break. The response is what matters.

It doesn't matter if you are paying $100k a year, equipment will break. The response is what matters. Amen! In life, sh*t happens! Hell, several years ago a cold front knocked out the electrical grid in Texas. They damn sure have the resources for that not to happen but... sh*t happens. The heat at A&T didn't fail because our maintenance department is understaffed, or the Administration was cutting corners to save money, or The University's Housing Department was incompetent. The heat failed because of an unusually cold front that knocked other heating systems. It was a legitimate problem but did going on social media and whinnying get it fixed sooner. Nope!

I think the response being complained about is the whining part. Stuff breaks on any campus. I think it was fixed in 1 and a half days... 2 days tops and no one froze to death. These kids on social media are just plain soft, but I'm not surprised a few ran straight to social media. Its the world today to pick up your phone when faced with the smallest bit of adversity.

Nope! That specific part can apply to many things regarding (A&T/NCAT/Ayantee) and social media.

I agree, but again these kids got options. They have friends at schools whose heat works fine. Social media is satan but it’s also quite powerful.

What was most hilarious to me were the comments from students at other institutions that couldn't hold A&Ts jock strap bang for buck. "Come over here to our school" "Would never happen here", "Glad I chose (insert garbage school here) over A&T". I was like "Did a dude from Fayetteville State just say I'm glad I didn't apply there? ?". LOL

Well….
It’s cheaper. I assume they got heat. Easier…
Let’s ask ourselves this: If it was that “school” up 85, would your opinion change?
