cool. but what about qua brown? he's still listed on the roster but i haven't seen him play all season long... [br I believe I saw him dressed in a white A&T polo-type shirt & dark slacks sitting on the Aggie bench. The fella I saw during timeouts & such looked like the fella on the roster. qua brown is a "4star" recruit. imagine how much better our team would be if he was healthy and ready to go. we need more bigs, but we also need more "go to" scorers to take the pressure off of glasper and shell. if brown is still committed to a&t (assuming he's still rehabbing) and we add a couple of legit bigs, this team could become very competitive. i actually can see some light at the end of the tunnel...

It normally takes a full year to completely rehab from an Achilles tendon so I don't and wouldn't expect to see Brown this season. Coach Ross is not the type of coach who's going to put the young man at risk just to win a few extra games in what he has already told us would be a transition year with a super young team. Oleschool is absolutely correct - add a couple of post players along with a healthy Will Felton to what we already have and next season we could become the schoolyard bully and start taking people's lunch money.

Great. Let's see how the players and coaches develop and grow in all of these non-conference games. 2 wins are not good, but are they improving or are we beating bad teams? I pray it is the former.

At this point the level of competition doesn't matter. When I looked at the schedule I honestly thought we might not win a game, especially after we lost Felton. They've been competitive in every game during the month of December and right now thats about all we can ask for. If they continue too improve at current rate they will win a few more. Kudos to Coach Ross.

We are definitely improving as a team. Glasper is taking shots because early on no one seemed to want to step up a be the big dawg on the team. I do feel we are well coached. you can see the team chemistry starting to come together. I dont expect us to win a ton this year but we will improve. I do feel we will make a big leap next year once we can recruit bigs and shooters.

I had to do a double take... are you guys saying positive stuff about our men's basketball team. Where are all the complaints about the coach? I've complained about this team, but I've based my complaints on those b-ball experts on this site. Sounds like our new coach may be okay! Just was surprised to hear all the positive comments.

We’re going to be scrappy in CAA play.

...definite sign of progress. To beat them on their own court, too. Little by little, I'm buying in. Just as I/we are critical when they lose, gotta give em their praise when they win. Coastal ain't a great team, but I doubt if we would've beaten them a month ago. Although the numbers aren't flattering, Murphy had 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 block. In DI basketball, you need some big boys. They don't have to be the centerpiece of your offense, but you need them, especially on the defensive end. If you don't have a big dude deterring shots or clogging up driving lanes, you're barbecue chicken every night. I don't think it's a coincidence that we started winning when Murphy starting playing. Big ups to Glasper and Shell for scoring, but having some type of legitimate post presence on both sides of the ball is what makes you D-I respectable.

i luv "defense", so i always watch our "defense" very closely. i'm the kinda dude who gets "frustrated" when our teams (men and women) leave shooters wide open or allow a ball handler to beat us off the dribble for an easy layup. "overall", this team does neither of those things. "occasionally", they do have a defensive breakdowns here or there. but overall, they play very good "defense" and they do a decent job of keeping the ball in front of them. their defensive fundamentals (footwork, rotations, help defense, et cetera) looks to me to be "on point". i've seen no flaws in that regard and i luv that!
murphy has made all the difference in the world. not so much by his scoring, but by his "presence" in the paint. no longer can midmajor/lowmajor teams score "at will" in the paint when murphy is in there. we're still out-manned in the paint, especially when murphy is not in the game. but at least we now have a legit big in the paint which allows coach to move robinson to the "4" position rather than the "5".
only thing is that we have to keep murphy outta foul trouble and gawd knows i pray that he stays "healthy"...

Yes. And I want to see how Murphy works with the Greek Young Man. Idk just yet how Murphy’s hands are or if He can pass. But He and Joyner battled defensively and decently offensively. ( I guess that it’s based on the match-up, but if he gets going and ever commands a double team then we will be truly better. As it looks like Glasper/Shell has the green light. ( And can both slash).

One thing about Robinson. He took good shots. He had an off night, but he backed down the guy quite a few times.

( And can both slash). yes, both glasper and shell can "slash". this dude, shell? he's special. to be so small, he's still able to "penetrate" to beat his man and then takes shots (mostly floaters) in the paint and the opposing bigs can't even block his shot. after watching his recruiting videos, i knew he could score but i didn't think it would translate immediately at the d1 level. he's a darn good "point guard", the best "true" point guard we've had since kam graduated. once qua is healthy and ready to go, we'll have a trio of scoring guards. now we just need some bigs to complement our guards, hopefully that will happen with our next recruiting class. and if so, i can see this squad being a very formidable team in conference play. fortunately, we have a very "young" team and they're gaining very valuable experience this season. assuming they stay put, most of our team will still have at least 2 years of eligibility remaining next season. if coach picks up a couple of bigs for next season, this team could become a "very good" team next season cuz our guards will be ready for the "big time" by then...
