My wife and I watched the game and were actually engaged and excited, as we were in unchartered territory several times: We held a lead nearing halftime, we had a lead in the 2nd half, and we were in a position to win. High Point, just like previous opponents and future opponents, knows that we can’t do anything inside, so they challenged us in the paint.
I’ll be interested to look at the stat line to examine the rebound disparity and the points in the paint line. Our lack of an inside presence is one of our many downfalls, with the others being our inability or refusal to box out, our woeful shooting, and our apparent lack of depth. Coach Ross appears to have found his rotation, and that pool is mighty shallow. I wonder, and ask this body to help me, how many of the guys on the roster are Ross recruits? I struggle to reconcile that someone thought that the majority of the guys on this years’ roster are division 1 basketball players. I watched a D2 game between St. Aug vs. Anderson (SC) a few nights ago on FloSports, and both of those teams could beat us by 10.
My lovely bride and I both hope we’re wrong, but we’ve both wrapped our minds around the possibility of an 0-27 campaign. I think that it’s a foregone conclusion that our BEST and most probable chance at a dub for the season will be the 2 games we’ll play in Vegas against Jackson State and Texas Southern. If we don’t leave Vegas with 2 wins, it’s likely that we’ll fuss about our winless 2023-24 season for years to come.
When I hit my knees in prayer tonight and again tomorrow morning to thank our Father for His grace & mercy, I’ll lift our Aggies in prayer and petition Him for His grace, mercy, and favor!
