Which school did he transfer to? Minot State, North Dakota, or North Dakota State. This is a question to anyone. Minot State. 5000 student body population. They possibly could have recruited him out of high school, the athlete being from Florida because Minot has always recruited Florida heavily especially for their skill position athletes. So there could have been a connection before his transfer. No more different than what we do we offer a kid he decides to go somewhere else but finds his way back to us if things don't work out. I think people are making a big deal out of this. 98.9% of these players that are transferring here and there will never see the NFL, hell most of them may never play professional ball at all. But I can see those individuals just wanting to play and compete and hopefully receiver a degree and then move on with their life.

This is madness !?!?! I don't know the kids reasons for leaving...or what type of "deal" he got at the new school, but there is no way anyone could convince me this was what he was looking for to further himself athletically or academically. We had a new coach and a horrible season, but Damn ! He didn't move up (FBS)...make a lateral move (FCS)...he didn't even get picked up by a local or regional D2 school. He took an offer to play for a small D2 school (less than 3K students) in the middle of nowhere North Dakota and he is from Florida. Who was in his ear...these kids are crazy. 5k or more student body population. Minot has always recruited Florida heavily and may have recruited him out of high school. Why can't we just accept that the young man wants to play and compete on a team that is willing to give him playing time on the field and be happy for him. Hell A&T does the same thing they offer a kid he chooses another program things don't work out and the kid comes back to the programs that offered him out of high school hoping to get a slot somewhere. It's no big deal and it's definitely not a loss to A&T. I wish the young man luck.

About Minot StateMe saying “literally this simple” is about kids wanting to play and not ride the bench at a higher level for “respect”. I didn’t make any points about enrollment at any school nor do I care about it.

About Minot State5k or 2k does it make a difference ?? 🤔 if he's there to play football and get his education and the institution is certified. Student population shouldn't matter.

No one is denying that this type thing happens in the modern age of college sports. I think the reason folks are perplexed about the young man's decision is because according to the NC A&T football website, he played 9 games for A&T in 2021, 9 games in 2022 and 10 games in 2023 (as a starter). In other words, he went from being a starting DE at A&T in the CAA to a division 2 team in North Dakota. A&T went 1-10 in the CAA and Minot State went 1-10 in the NSIC. Combine that with the fact that he is from Florida and was part of an HBCU culture at A&T for 5 years and then ended up in in Minot, ND. Folks are just using known information to arrive at a rather logical conclusion that this outcome was likely not what Janorris envisioned. I wish him nothing but success and happiness.

Their 2023 roster has 9 Florida kids on it, to A&T’s 3. Problem with the transfer discussions amongst a specific side of college sports fans is the complete disregard that there are 2 sides of portal entries. Player entering themselves, and coaches utilizing it make room for others they’re recruiting. I have literally seen it more from the coaches than players themselves directly as a manager in the portal era. If you don’t have a relationship with the player themselves, I promise the possibilities are ENDLESS. Lastly, it’s literally almost no one I could blame for entering the portal as a grad transfer that got to A&T in 2019. Literally almost couldn’t have went through more disarray within the program in that timeframe. 3 conferences, multiple different coaching staffs, winning & then losing at an insane degree. Said player moves on as a grad transfer and gets to hopefully star at another level, it’s a non-issue. This exact platform discusses wanting a Power 5 transfer all the time (which is honestly dropping down 2 levels to play FCS ball to his one) to play for a team that won one game & wouldn’t bat an eye once they see the commitment announcement from a player dropping down that far to play for their alma mater. Even a Group of 5 transfer

Even a Group of 5 transfer I think it's the case that when you see kids drop down levels they weren't getting much playing time. Janorris was a STARTER at a level above where he went and as far as I could tell he didn't play as much as he could have due to injuries. So I'm still baffled.

Even a Group of 5 transfer Perhaps I missed it but I haven't seen a heavy focus in this forum on signing P5 transfers? When it comes to the interior defensive lineman position most of us have advocated for an experienced transfer player given our problem with stopping the run. I think we are all open to P5, G5, D2 NAIA or JUCO. Plenty of em still in the portal. And this isn't all about NIL. SWAC schools and nccu have managed to sign DT transfers. I'm starting to think this is intentional by Coach Brown with his preference being high school recruits for that position.
