I assume this is the university's new official website.

The key to a good athletic website is keeping it up to date and making sure all the links are functional. The flashiness of a page doesn’t impress me as much as the current and in depth information it can provide.
I notice the A&T athletics site has been down a couple of days so I’m assuming they are switching to the new page.

Actually no,
It's because I was on the road at DSU and Howard.
I like the new site, but it would be better if they paid a full time webmaster so we (the SID office) wouldn't have to worry about it so much.
So, yeah...when I'm on the road, the site could be shot to hell.
Better yet, give me a laptop so I can update the site on the road.
Anyway, we're too cheap. Punks.

Ball1, Is maintaining the site something a student could do? or is it more complicated? Why not make it a job that you rotate Journalism and Computer Science students through with a stipend. BTW, laptops can be leased for $25/month. What's up with that? Where's the AD at? ;D

First of all, updating the website is MY JOB, so I feel like I'm responsible.
My problem with working with students is twofold:
1. The main focus of a student should be GOING TO CLASS...because that what s/he's there for. And what about the late nights when we play football or basketball games?
2. We are not going to pay the student what updating the website is worth. Honestly, managing the site is a 40-hour a week job, especially in the spring semester, where we average an event EVERY DAY.
We do have the capability to update the site on the road now with the site's FrontPage accessibility, so it will be easier.
Now with the switch complete, all we have to do now is update the page with all spring activities, then update all the profile pages in the summer...along with the media guides, the eight plus weeks is more than enough time.

Thanks for the response. Why is giving students the opportunity to have some practical Journalism experience such a bad thing? A student's job is more than just "going to class". They need procticall experience. As far as late nights go that's not a problem for students. I spent many late nights in the Engineering buildings, sometimes overnight. You said yourself that it's a full-time job to maintain the site and that's not all that you do. It's OK to "take responsibility" but you and I both know to do it right you need help. I'm glad you now have remote access. Good Luck on the site. Maxell

Ball1,
After seeing you updating the web site in person, a couple of weeks ago. I took action and sent in my contribution for the Athletic department. I only hope my small "stipend" helps pays for support to keep the web site updated.
Keep up the good work!
