Coach Johnson was a great coach. My dad played for him at Georgetown High. A&T should provide some sport camps to improve the visibility of our programs.

The inaugural Gideon T. Johnson Football Camp will be held Saturday, July 9 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Jacksonville High School.
The camp is for youth ages 8-16, who will receive instruction from high school, college and professional football players, including current Houston Texans linebacker Quincy Monk, who attended White Oak High School and the University of North Carolina. Emphasis will be placed on helping the kids understand the terms student-athlete and moral values. Fundamentals of offense and defense will also be provided by all instructors involved.
There is a registration fee of $20 and all camp participants will receive a t-shirt and lunch.
The camp is being held in honor of the late Coach Gideon T. Johnson, who coached at Georgetown High School and Jacksonville High School.
Following is a list of instructors scheduled to participate: Sammie L. Rogers, LB/QB, North Carolina A&T University; Terrance Hall, OL, Fayetteville State University; Scotty Arnold, DL, Elizabeth City State University; Maurice Smith, RB, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, N.C. A&T University; Troy Pelshack, DE/DL, St. Louis Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars, Columbus (CFL), N.C. A&T University; Henry Douglas, WR, Detroit Lions, Jackonville Jaguars, N.C.
