Unless he is a starter at Seton Hall next year, the grass was not greener. Outside of maybe Powell and possibly Bettis . None of our former players that transferred out are Plug and Play starters . Situational and need players yes but not starters . Bettis brings quickness and aggressive on ball defense and doesn't mind being a facilitator on offense..i.e scores when the opportunity presents itself or is needed . Powell when healthy the same. Dukes should have stayed. Personally in my opinion, I don't think Ross wanted to keep any of them .As someone pointed out "sometimes HC tell players that they aren't wanted back" regardless of how talented they are, because he sees or feels something about them that doesn't fit his vision for the team . For those players that started or received lots of playing time for A&T last season, I would not rule out them not having the same opportunity to start at their new school. It depends on what level of the school (D2, D1, low-major, mid-major, high-major, etc.) and the needs at that school (scorer, defender, playmaker, height, physicality/toughness, or lost several players due to injuries, graduation or portal). The CAA was a competitive conference and A&T performed better than expected with those players. By the way, I am interpreting your situational and need comment as those applying to the usage of bench players. Otherwise, ignore my post if situational and need meant the same as I described above.

Does that leave only McDuffie, Dukes, and Johnson as unsigned A&T transfers thus far? Still no news from anyone as to whether Robinson will return or enter the transfer portal (grad students can enter transfer portal outside the standard portal window period). Mcduffie with LR Thanks.

I wish we would go back to players, coaches, and schools posting committed and then signed images, so that we know where players are going for sure (only a few can get out of a signed NLI). In this NIL era, it is difficult to fully trust players or their parents on solely their word (verbal commit). Labels like soft commit, hard commit, etc are meaningless when these same players are still requesting unofficial and official visits. Do we know whether all of our recent MBB commits have signed and if not why? Just curious. FACT if they have not signed/NLI, for me it's just a gentleman's agreement with no guarantees that they are fully committed . Commitments work both ways for the institution and the athlete. Because the institution can always change their mind also if a better are equally talented athlete becomes available and is will to SIGN or commit to an NLI agreement. It's all a waiting process/game for both athlete and institution π . Sometimes it works out for both and sometimes it doesn't π Also in some cases the athlete has been signed and uses the word committed when all they have to say is "I have signed with A&T to play so an so sport . People are making to big a deal out of the term committed, committed does not mean that you have signed, and to some committed means that you have signed or have a NLI agreement in place ππ .August reporting time will clear all this up ππ€£π When they are all on campus, if they are not already in summer school.

Key words "opportunity to start at there new school" . The impression that I am getting from a few is that these athletes are Plug and Play starters when they step foot on campus. Which they are not ( in my opinion) but some are . Having the opportunity to be a starter is a completely different situation because you have to complete to start and then keep your position. Plug and Play starters only have to keep there spot . Situational players can be either or depending on the team and players you are competing against..i.e they don't have to be starters to start, those type of players are situational starters. Bench players are players that may never start but are major contributors Off the Bench.

honestly, i usually don't like to play against "outstanding" former aggie athletes who transferred to other schools. but in the case of watson, he's extremely "talented", but i wouldn't mind playing against him cuz no matter what, i wouldn't want him back if he doesn't accept the "team" concept.
if he winds up at towson or high point, all coach ross has to do against watson is place a "defender" in legal guarding position smack dabb in front of watson cuz watson is a "player control foul" waiting to happen. he'll be in "foul trouble" within the first 10 minutes of the game...

Personally I am high on Watson as a role player. Not sure he wants to stay or Ross wants him to stay. Good transfer move for all. However, I wonder if any of the coaches will allow him to jack-n-ding 6-8 3βs per at the 25% make rate.

However, I wonder if any of the coaches will allow him to jack-n-ding 6-8 3βs per at the 25% make rate. Watson has never been a good 3PT shooter over his entire college career. Any good coach that signs him would tell him that he is not a good 3PT shooter and work with him on improving his shot selection decision as well as forced drives leading to fouls/turnovers, otherwise you will have a seat next to me on the bench. A bad coach or team will allow him to continue taking bad or untimely 3PTers. This is Watson's last go round, therefore he will choose to adapt and grow or go out blazing his style in a program that is okay with it. A&T tolerated it for two years. Why do we doubt he can't find another school that has no issue with his style of play and start him? What does that say about A&T and it's evaluation of player's talent when we had 2 school's worth of data on Watson before he came here. Do all other schools know more about recruiting than we do such that it is a certainty that Watson won't start elsewhere once they look into possibly recruiting him? The answer is no. We thought it was a good fit and others will make similar conclusions even if it ends up being a mistake because Watson has D1 talent. In my opinion, Watson is a role player on a good college team, but there is no reason that he can't be a starter for an average or bad team if he meets their needs and listen to the coach. For the last 2 seasons, A&T was an average to below average team which Watson started. What has changed? I don't pretend to know how good all of the 3 teams on his list were last year or is projected to do this season, but I won't rule out he can't be a starter with so many unknown factors. Some of us keep looking at things only in the eyes of A&T or the conference we play in, but forget there are different levels of college basketball within D1. He could end up starting for a D1 team his last year in college that wins only 5 games or be a role player on a D1 team that wins their conference tournament championship. That is why these kids need to truly do their homework in choosing a proper school that is right for them (athletically, academically, or both) and be receptive to constructive criticism of their game vs thin skin. This would help reduce the number of transfers.

This is his last go round as a college basketball player which forces some players to change. I am not saying he will, but he has extra motivation. Take Carmelo Anthony for instance, he changed his style of play in his later years after years of playing a certain way and being out of the league for a bit. We will see. I am not for or against Watson. I root for young men and women to learn from their earlier mistakes that's all. You are right. Never say never.

He committed to A&T back in April, so I guess this answers my earlier question as to whether all these committed MBB players have signed their NLI. I guess these committed players have no choice but to start signing now if they want to enroll in summer school or begin training with the team this summer at A&T.

Has Watson sign any where yet Aggie One posted this one page back. This hurts a little extra because 1) Towson is obv in-conference 2) I remember him gawking at the HPU arena when it first opened the season before last to the news reporters interviewing him, so potentially losing someone to a lesser conference/team but far better facilities would sting a little. I watched a lot of HPU last year & they were hot garbage (almost lost to a D2 squad at home) Seton Hall is a clear upgrade because itβs in a conference in the Power 6, and typically top 3 most competitive conference of the Power 6. And heβs already played at that level before so I guess. . He has the athleticism for that level for sure, everything else is TBD.
