Speaking of Coach Watson, a lot of folks didn't really like the idea of the Aggie brass hiring Don Corbett from Lincoln (MO) when he came in, but he turned out to be the right one. Corbett had a consistent winning record at Lincoln in the MIAA . That is the difference. If your going to drop into the lower divisions , get a coach that has a winning record and not just against HBCU competition. Coach Corbett was one of my favorite people in the entire world. And he was a great coach. Just bringing up the fact that a lot of people questioned his hiring when Gene Littles left and it was made. I was there and remember it well.

Look...I'm not trying to sell him to you. I just think that he should be considered for an interview. None of us are making decisions on this hire. If he doesn't have a serious chance to be our next coach then he doesn't need to come here for an interview. Let's not waste anybody's time. This job should be considered too attractive for us to bring in candidates with his type of record. I am tried of always trying to find diamonds in the rough. Let's just go the jewelry store to get our diamonds like everybody else.

There is a chance that all the candidates mentioned in this thread may have either applied for the job or may be considered by the HC search committee (generic name for any persons or agency involved in the HC hiring process) if they meet the minimum requirements set in the job posting. But we will never know unless someone leaks some information to the public or a coach is asked whether he applied or was interviewed for the position and he answered the question. In addition, we will not know if the HC search committee is using the more inclusive minimum requirements or the more restrictive preferred criteria to interview candidates. I can't wait to see who they hire.

I won't be surprised if we don't get a current CAA assistant coach or one that has coached in the CAA recently (3-5 years ago, or so).
