I'm still tripping that at one point in the game, we were up 14-0, and allowed them to recover because some folks decided to go rogue and play for themselves. But, we went into the half clinging to a 3-point lead and then fell apart in the second half due to the same rogue play of the same rogue players. What tripped me out even more is that this rogue play was met with apathy, and NO reprisal from the coaching staff. NO benching of players, NO energy nor fight, just the conclusion that "we're losing, we're gonna lose, so let's just let it happen." What tripped me out EVEN more is that, upon reflection of stats, we GOT ZERO points and 2 REBOUNDS from our "bigs," got another night of poor shot selection with poor results from our guards, while the Portobello kid busted us for 30/16. We BETTER get a DARN GOOD HC & assistants and bring in SOME PLAYERS!!! I've said it for 4 seasons now..PLEASE...BRING IN: 1) Some guards who understand how to distribute the basketball and run an offense 2) Those same guards NEED TO BE ABLE TO SHOOT 3) 2 or 3 BIGS! Connect with our Ag and Engineering schools and get their recruiters to find us some guys from Nigeria, Sudan, Congo, Germany, Bosnia, Serbia, SOMEWHERE! We could use some Slobodan Milesovic's and Bango N'Diaye's 'round here! It's gonna get better! I agree 100 . On the rebounding side . Rebounding is about effort and who wants the ball the most period. That falls back on the players and Coaching. Coaching can only teach player's so much about rebounding, but the players have to want to be aggressive rebounders not just sometimes but all the time . Rebounding is something you can't turn on and off . Scorers come a dime a dozen but solid rebounders are hard to find and in a lot of cases have to be made .

Fam: Y'all have read my blistering commentary about our inability or unwillingness or both as it relates to boxing out & getting rebounds & gritty defense from everyone. The Dallas Shag showed some tenacity when it came to the art of rebounding & #13 would do a little something sporadically, but gave us NOTHING offensively. We need better.
Boris Zhuthotsky, Slobodan Milesovich, Milos Tratcoz, Mohammad Ibn Sabbad, Dishumba Balungun, & Othello Baltashezzar could be THE ANSWER to our inside the paint scoring & defensive woes, and I reiterate that our Agriculture, Engineering, & Technology recruiters need to go to Eastern Europe, Angola, Cameroon, Nigeria, Sudan, Chad, Central African Republic & Sierra Leone & get them off the soccer pitch and into the gym.
Before y'all hurl rotten produce at me, remember this: We went across the pond & got Harry...
And, I watched some pretty decent SIAC tournament games & OVC games. If Morehouse, Howard, Tuskegee, Tennessee State (they have 3!) & Lane College can get them, why can't we???
Lastly, you should check out Miles College's coach. He spent 16 seasons at Benedict & is their all time Wins leader & has been at Miles for 4 & is their all time win % leader. He's rough around the edges, works the officials, keeps a scowl on his face, & looks like a melanated Coach K. But...he get results, demands excellence from his players, & has the receipts to show it.
We need a coach like him!

The 1st time I saw this job req. I had concerns about A&T's preferred items and if that would narrow the search too much. 🤦🏾♂️ Yes. Just incase others don't know why I am concerned, I am posting that part of the job req. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred with 7+ years of coaching experience including experience as head coach in a college/university setting. I don't know as much about coach's background as I should, but how many out there meets the above preferred requirements. Thank God they are not the minimum requirements.

Working knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations I still say that one candidate that I put out there 6 weeks ago should at least be given some consideration. And he would pass the preferred requirement stipulation with flying colors since he has a law degree.
Plus, he's a very good basketball coach who has "done well with less." I'm just saying keep an open mind...

Working knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations I specifically pay attention to these things because of how we as minorities have been discriminated against when it comes to job search and interviews. In practice the minimum requirements give the impression that it is open to a large group of people, but the addition of the preference screens out a lot of people and legally you can't argue that you were discriminated against. I am not saying A&T is doing this in this case, but just that it concerned me on how wide will their search be. As long as they hire a good coach, I am good with the job posting.

He is not getting the job...he has zero Div1 experience and has been in the SIAC his entire career. He must become and assistant coach at the D1 level before he gets a shot at a top mid-major conference. All wins are not equal, his success in the SIAC is great but not a top Div2 conference. Miles isn't ranked in the top 25 or regional top 10.

If you want to go where you've never been before, you have to do what you've never done before.

Mr. Watson from Miles may not be a "sexy" choice for the job given his relatively "low-key" existence and perceived sub-par level of competition that some members of the bourgeois class may hold against him, but the dude can coach. In terms of Miles not being ranked in their region, they WILL BE after today.
I agree with some observers on this thread who have lamented that the position minimum requirements may not be enough and that the preferred ones will serve as knock-out standards to bring in an individual who, and read between the lines as best you can, will embody and represent the new narrative, brand, and identity that the university is attempting to create. If you would like a scalable example, look at how the football coaching staff will look when it's complete for the ideal that the university administration is building 'round here.
I would hate to see the university woo and select an assistant/associate from a mid or even high major and get disappointed because being affiliated with a winner does not make one a winner. If we don't use a common sense approach and bring in a coach and accompanying staff who can recruit the type of players they will need to execute their schemes, represent the university on and off the court with class, GO TO CLASS and earn a degree in a field other than "Liberal Studies," "General Studies," or "Supervision of Unsustainable Receptacle Construction Administration," we would have done those young men a grave disservice in life. This makes us no better than the high-major PWI's who pimp out our young brothers to perform in front of thousands who foam at the mouth and salivate like spectators at Calvin Candie's mandingo fights, only to use them up, spit them out, or hit them over the head with a hammer when their utility to them runs out.
This is our chance to control the narrative and the destiny of the program and dozens of young men.
