Best game we played all year even though we lost. Do we still look for a new coach to revive our basketball program? Heck yes we look for a new coach, we are 12 - 17. Coach failed his team by starting Robinson over Powell and not snatching Watson off the court when he takes terrible shots. Furthermore, the team still doesn’t run an offense…still ISO ball.

My biggest take away was that coach finally grew a pair and benched Mr. Fat Joe lean back Watson , that and the defensive adjustments he made in the second half were big time .Unfortunately Woods was off today but I was pleased with his shot selection ,he didn't throw up a bunch of bricks . 1-7 from 3Land 5-16 overall He didn't build a dorm against Towson. Rather, he built an equipment shed for the Aggie Baseball Team with the bricks he tossed up.

Horton was very efficient again today finishing with 17pts, 6rebs. Both Horton & Powell were efficient and effective. Personally more of a team effort to day . Ball & player movement , inside to outside play , bigs being used as scores on offense (Wish we had Harry and Folton to add to the mix ) , clock use and players not just jacking up shots..i.e guards , but working to the open shot/shots . Overall team effort 👏. Now if we can just work on the rebounding.

CT on blocking five shots " Cam Woods and their guards are very good. They attack the rim. They aren't necessarily looking to make plays for others. When they are at the rim, they have tunnel vision. Once Radhir or Nygal or Nic stands them up, it's an easy block." ... On A&T changing defense and not going inside in the second half ... "They changed defenses a lot with a 2-2-1 press back to a 2-3, some 1-3-1. We were aware that they were going to do it. It's one thing to talk about it on a one-day turnaround and it's tougher to replicate it. We had more time to prepare for that last time." More from Skerry "Coach Shumpert did a good job of changing defenses. He went to the bench for some guys who rarely play. Some weren't heavy guys in the scouting report and those guys can and delivered at the end of the half. We did a pretty good job on Woods, but Powell and Johnson were really good today."The teams are keying in on Woods!!! Towson had a 24 pts turnaround from the 1st to 2nd game. They lost by 12 and then won by 12. Kam scored 29 pts. His 2nd highest scoring output @ A&T. They held him to 15 pts in the 2nd game. Watson dropped from 10 to 2 pts. Towson definitely made huge adjustments between games to disrupt our top 2 scorers. The above write-up talks about Coach Shumpert changing defense. Was this something new or a common practice "only" when we fall way behind an opponent? The Bigs took 31 of the total team shots of 74 which was a better balance over the last 5 games. Powell took 23 shots which probably was too many. More players off the bench are scoring and developing due to more playing time. We also had only 6 turnovers for the game, although the bench players played more minutes this game. Usually, you are afraid they will make a lot of mistakes.

Yes we need a new HC . Shumpert is not ready YET. Now in saying that , I Shumpert didn't fail this team . Shumpert came in with a plan to implement an Inside Out concept but with the lose of his true Big men he had to revert back to TV's guard small ball philosophy ,as most young intern coaches will do . As far has starting Powell over Robinson (I feel that he should have) but that's his call and I also think that it benefitted Powell by not starting ( less pressure on the player after a 3 year lay of do to injury and more time to work his way back into rhythm physically) . As for Watson. He was not the only one that should have been pulled..i.e Woods . The only difference is Woods is showing the effort to change his way of thinking on the floor and work to get free for the open shot , whereas Watson thinks that he can take over the game by himself 😆 which effects team continuity . Truthfully speaking if Shumpert had failed this team we would be in last place instead of 6th place. As stated A&T has exceeded expectations and as the announcer said "A&T can play and win in the CAA and shouldn't be taken lightly going forward " .

Best game we played all year even though we lost. Do we still look for a new coach to revive our basketball program? Yes. There is only a 2 game difference between 6th and 12th place in the CAA standings. We could remain mediocre for a long time without a coaching chain. We need a proven coach that can take us to the next level in recruiting, player & staff development, in-game coaching and player leadership, pregame preparation, and social media awareness to increase fan attendance. My preference, which maybe "a little" 🙂 out there, would be the following: 1) Pull or steal a HC from a usually good basketball program that is now dissatisfied with their coach. 2) Hire a former HC currently on the coaching staff of a team or sat out a year that is eagerly looking for another shot to prove he can coach a winner. Coach may have been suspended or something. 3) Hire a long term associate coach that is currently on the staff of a known winning basketball program 4) Bring in a coach with big name recognition with kids/fans that can draw top talent and surround himself with good basketball IQ people willing to learn (ability to convince JR to join the staff as a student to not mess with his golf eligibility and grow into maybe a future A&T coach). Of course, money may be a problem with some of my crazy preferences, but how else does A&T get back to a respectable basketball program of old commented by many on this board. The basketball ONLY schools "own" the CAA Basketball Championship, so expect not to ever receive a NCAA March Madness bid unless there is a major change in our men's basketball program. The women basketball program will be fine.

I'm glad that Shumpert pulled Fat Joe and, in my estimation, he should have been pulled A LONG TIME AGO. I am also happy that some of you on here are seeing that John Dillinger should have been pulled as well, but he's been given a little grace since some of you say that he's showing more shot-selection discipline and trying to involve his teammates. I didn't see this against Towson, as he still threw up 17 shots and made 5 of them, including 1 of 7 from beyond the arc.
What's the feeling of the body of Shumpert going back to TV's Gnat & Flea philosophy and run:
Bettis at 1 Elliott at 2 Horton at Combo Powell at 4 If we have to, Johnson at 5
Dillinger, Fat Joe, and Fillmore shouldn't see the floor unless necessary or under extraordinary circumstances. Shucks, I'd run with Duke and McDuffie before #3, #4, and #25.
When the new coach is hired, how much do you want to wager that after he watches the extensive film, Dillinger, Fat Joe, and a few others will be playing elsewhere next season? The good news is that Jaylen Jackson returns next season, and hopefully, we'll benefit from some portal kids or some of those kids balling out in the intramural league in Moore Gym. I'm told that some of those brothers could EASILY beat out some on the current roster...
No cap.

Nice starting lineup which I could live with in favor of player development for the remaining 2 games and to see how Kam and Watson respond coming off the bench. Will they have attitudes due to it always was about them and not team? But with a full season, I would give Kam and Watson a fair chance to start just like everyone else under a new HC and new players (this includes players out all season due to injuries). Kam and Watson basketball IQ, discipline, and leadership may blossom under a new coach. I personally don't give up on students or athletes (academically or athletically) first, if there is a small chance they are not receiving adequate instructions, support, or coaching. I am not in Coach Shumpert's practices or game hurdles. Just me.

Although we do not know all of the nuances behind Fat Joe's circuitous journey Aggie Land, I can't co-sign on discipline, as we are his third college in 4 seasons and all one has to do is go back to some threads about John Dillinger's recruitment and signing, and you'll see that some concerns existed about some alleged disciplinary (unknown if they were referring to on or off-court) issues at previous stops.
I think Fat Joe's benching may have registered with him FINALLY, and I think that it registers because up until now, he and others really thought "Y'all ain't stupid! Y'all NEED me out there if you want to have a chance!" I read his body language the past few games when he was invited to enjoy the courtside view, and it was one of "I'll be back out there eventually, and I'll lead them to glory!" When Powell kinda sorta started balling yesterday, that disposition wasn't there. Powell has to clean up his inability to finish 5 inches from the basket. He wound up 8-23 from the floor yesterday, and that's going to have to improve. Johnson and Fillmore continue to miss from 2 inches, and get beat up down low. How many boards did the man-child from Towson have in the first quarter alone?
I'd like to see Shumpert start the Gnat-Flea lineup above the last 2 games. Who knows???

I do have concerns on whether very talented/athletic players & dominant Bigs will choose A&T as "their 1st choice" (when will we have a new coaching staff, we left the MEAC, last 2-3 years performance, don't like current offensive system, player wants a different scenery than NC, etc. ) and if the new coaching staff is any good at targeting/securing top targeted players "they would like to have". There needs to be a joining of the minds to seal the deal. Players being available is not getting the job done. We all agree that hiring a good coach comes first, but I need to see that you can sign top talent (NLI - National Letter of Intent).

This is it. The Last week. Idk how we will do in the Tournament. Or if we would get invites to any post season Tournaments ( NIT, CIT ect) if we don’t win the CAA Tourney.
Now…I wish that I could have seen what we have on the bench. I think that Corbett is slated for some immediate upgrades. The next Coach will need to evaluate guys and also hit the ground running. Coach Robinson is showing what is possible. So with that being said, We weren’t a doormat. Learning the League, Coaches, Players, Reffs ect has been a challenge.

Shumpert has already been down that road and I don't see him going back . As for the Intramural rec league ballers 😆 to different worlds of competition, unless some of them are Big bodies 6'9,10 or 11 . And even then I would be conscious , because it's a big difference playing against a team full of 5'9,10,6',6'2 or 5 if your lucky to facing 6',6'5 guards and bigs with the same abilities or better . I was a hell of a rec ball guard even played with and against June, Outlaw , Allen Sprwell(may have misspelled his name) but it was no way in hell I would even intertain tying out to play at Tee 😂 maybe as a ball or towel boy . Get Out of here 😆 LHM 😆

As the announcer said " A&T can get the players right in-state give or take and the portal " players are not the problem but as you stated finding the right Coach and staff is . That can change not only a players IQ but the overall philosophy and approach to the game . Talent was always available (in-state,out-state,transfer portal) for the pickings. There needs to be a joining of the minds to seal the deal. Players being available is not getting the job done. We all agree that hiring a good coach comes first, but I need to see that you can sign top talent (NLI). All of your statement falls on the HC and staff . TV recruited a certain type of player mostly small . When we did happen upon the true bigs that could play outside and inside he had no idea who to use them . A&T's situation has never been getting just any player/players that are available. A&T's problem has been the X & O and getting the right Coaches to Coach them especially the Big men. Shumpert can coach and recruit Bigs but who ever the HC is must have a system in place that is conducive to their use . TV had own Bigs acting like Christmas ornaments just standing around with know movement on the offensive end when we had them . I have no idea what Shumpert could have done because our True Bigs got injured. But if your going to recruit Bigs you must make your program conducive to there skills set..i.e Harry could shot the 3 and mid range shots better then most on the team but was criticize for his ability to do so . Crap like that will make it hard to attract Bigs that play more of a European style of ball because that is there skills set Bigs can do more then just rebound and play defense and stand a round waiting for a put back they move around . Just watch how coach Rob uses his Big women . They have movement and movement create space and space creates uncontested shots or one on one situations in the post . You want talen/talented bigs or players in general given them a Coach and system that they can win in and a Coach and staff that can teach them how to win .
