well, i will say this. the "esa" (entertainment and sports arena) in washington, dc is a very nice facility that just completed construction in 2018. so its essentially a "brand new" facility that's accessible by subway/metro train. it seats about 4,200 and its the home of dc's wnba franchise, the washington mystics. its also home to dc's nba affiliated "g-league" team, the "dc go-go" (luv that name!!). i'm a mystics season ticket holder, so i've been there numerous times. because it only seats roughly 4,200 fans, its a great environment for smaller crowds. would've been great for the meac tournament during weekday games, not so great for friday and saturday games because the meac normally has more than 4,200 at the semi & final championship games. also, the esa corridor would not adequately accommodate the numerous "vendors" that show up at the scope in norfolk. but its a very nice facility, parking may be a problem if you drive there cuz parking spaces are very limited. i've found that the most convenient way to get there is to take the metro subway train there, the metro station is a very short walk (less than a block or so) from the esa... The arena in Rock Hill, SC worked pretty good for the SIAC Basketball Tournament the last couple of years. It seats 1,200 people. www.visityorkcounty.com/sports/venues-facilities/rock-hill-sports-event-center/a 1,200 seat facility "definitely" wouldn't work for the meac, but i don't know about the caa. for all i know, it might work for the caa, but "definitely" wouldn't work for the meac unless its for the opening rounds that small crowds attend. "usually", the friday and saturday games at the scope draw extremely well depending on who's playing. so it definitely wouldn't work for those games...

I'm going to the MEAC next Friday for the semifinal games. Friday night is fun at the MEAC. The men's MEAC final four should be awesome agreed. as of today, the four top teams are; 1- howard 2- norfolk state 3- nccu 4- umes other than umes, all four of those schools draw well at the scope, especially of course nsu draws well for obvious reasons. i'd make the drive to norfolk for the tournament if a&t was still in the meac, otherwise i'll watch it from home on tv. i miss going to the scope though, great environment for tournament basketball and hbcu vendors...
