I hate that we took an L, however we knew Hampton would throw the HBCU kitchen sink at us in the Big South and CAA lol. Our last MEAC championship was against Hampton. Can't forget your roots while growing lol. Between Campbell soup University, Elon, Hampton, possibly Drexel(or whoever the consistently top wbb CAA team is) along with NCCU gives us plenty of new legitimate rivals. Fun years heading our way. PWI fans have not been afraid to visit Club Corbett per the videos I've seen year all season. That's a later discussion lol A&T: 14-28 FT, 31 TO

No such thing sir lol. "Excuses are tools of incompetence...." A&T: 14-28 FT, 31 TO Soooo Hampton 21-23 FT, 21 TO didn't have anything to do with it? 3 point % Hampton 30% A&T 23.1%. Hampton 17 steals - NCAT 9 Looks like they beat us doing everything better except rebounding lol

Delaware, Drexel, Elon, and Towson have won the most CAA WBB tournament championships since 2017. Of course, the conference has expanded recently so we don't know how the new kids on the block, like A&T, will respond in their attempt to dethrone these past championships.

Hampton has always played us tough. I went to the game. A few notes:
* I like their players. Especially their #5. * Every Game against this school has been tough in the last few years. * CAA Commissioner was at the game. The new TV/Streaming Deal should have us selling Ad's like Mad Men. I have not read the deal for the Members with Linear TV (Regular TV- and idk who could show the game locally), I'm sure that we have a cut, and ultimely it helps our Brand in this market. * The Pep Band played "P-Funk" and I lost it! * The Pep Band (at the game) Hits differently! That Brass was smoking! I like the DJ, but Man...I missed those musicians!
* We had an off night. Even Pro's have them too. We played hard. Our shots were off. And I would have liked to see a few more sets after we could force feed out Bigs.
* Lastly, Let Dorsey go straight to the hoop, score or get fouled during that time that we really had to get down the floor and score. I felt that we/they looked at the Coach a little too much during the crunch. If the play breaks down, go to the hoop, make something happen. (we looked a little confused.) Running the play a little too long, at that point, just create with Dorsey and live with it.
* Make History A&T.

we were "careless" with the basketball a lot (which is a sign of lacking "focus") and our normal "defensive intensity" just wasn't there against hampton. i saw "too many" open shots or barely (if at all) contested shots against hampton.
again as i've stated previously, "none" of our remaining games are gonna be "easy" games no matter who we play. it is very difficult to bring your "a" game each and every night. but that's what you have to do when you're at the top of the mountain.
one of my favorite sayings when i was coaching was, "getting to the top is the easy part, staying at the top is the hard part". to get to the top, you're not gonna have to take every team's best shot. but to stay at the top, you have to take every team's best shot each and every night. so your "team mentality" must change when you're at the top.
when you're at the top, it is imperative that your team understands that they must bring their "a" game every night no matter who we're playing and yes, that's hard to do. teams who are fighting to reach the top don't have to take everybody's best shot every night. so "staying at the top" is a lot more difficult than climbing to the top...

The only thing I "might" disagree with you in your post is your comment on the team's defensive intensity. Since I did not see the game, I can't really dispute your claim but rarely do you cause a team to have 21 turnovers and say that their defensive intensity was an issue. 🤔 10 to 15 TOs are a lot and we caused 21.

Hampton is one of the better teams defensively, but we still shouldn’t have lost. Can’t believe we lost to a team that was in foul trouble early…

Since I did not see the game, I can't really dispute your claim but rarely do you cause a team to have 21 turnovers and say that their defensive intensity was an issue. 🤔 10 to 15 TOs are a lot and we caused 21. my judgement of our "defense" is based on what i saw. often stats alone don't always tell the entire story. i watched the entire game from beginning to end, though i had to "replay" it after the game was over cuz i had 2 high school games last night to officiate. when i watch games, i don't watch games like the "casual fan" does. defensively, i "always" mentally ask myself during each of our opponent's offensive possessions, "how difficult did our defense make our opponent's shot attempts"? can't help it, but as a former coach who placed a heavy emphasis on "defense", i have a trained eye for defensive intensity. so like i previously stated, last night i saw "too many" wide open shots or "barely contested" shots against hampton. what do i mean by "barely contested"? that's when a defensive player defends a "jump shooter" by standing "flat footed" (not jumping) and placing both hands straight up in the air. to an offensive player, that defender may as well not even be there cuz standing "flat footed" and placing both hands straight up in the air is a dead giveaway to the offensive player that they don't have to worry one bit about their shot being blocked or changed by the defender. i literally "hate" seeing our players do that cuz its very "ineffective", may as well not even be there...

Hampton is one of the better teams defensively, but we still shouldn’t have lost. Can’t believe we lost to a team that was in foul trouble early… i haven't checked the stats, but from what i saw, our free throw shooting was "gawd awful". that's another sign of "lacking focus". when you're playing from behind almost the entire game like we were last night, you can't afford to miss as many free throws as we missed last night. that's very "deflating" to the team when you're try to catch up...

I’m more worried about those 31 turnovers…I’ve watched all of their games 2/3 times, and we are still doing stuff that makes you say “wtf.” Like Harris trying to split 2 defenders just to have it stolen away(happened multiple games)…Or those push-offs when they know they will get called for the foul. The Hampton ladies were poking the ball out and snatching it away..did the same thing last game, so why weren’t they expecting it?
