Take into account current player injuries before and during the season. Much better will be defined as 5 more total wins during the regular season (non-conference and conference games).
IGNORE "SAME" SELECTION!!!!
I did not know how to edit without losing some votes.

I vote no because I believe the team style of play would have been the same. The only unknowns would have been how much of a leash he would have given Kam to shoot and how much rest Kam would have gotten in games where he played practically the entire game.

TV had less control over his players . Being truthful Coach Shumpert just inherited the TV philosophy..i.e that Rec ball mentality that was already ingrained in the returning players on this team .I do believe that Shumpert would have approached things differently if our core of true Bigs had been available at the start of the season. He should have stayed the course with his inside out philosophy on the offensive end of the floor which would have produced a few more victories. But again it's back to which team will show up . The team that plays and looks prepared with aggressive player and ball movement and rebounding or the Rec ballers.

He may not have had the respect of the players at the time to implement that style of offense.

coach jones would've done better. even coach jones would not have loss a 13 point lead (with possession of the ball) with only 54 seconds left in the game. that to me is "inexcusable" for a head coach.
one advantage that coach jones had was that he had a "true point guard" on his teams who knew how to "control tempo" and get the ball to the right teammates in the right places. that would be kam langley instead of kam woods. this year's team would be totally different if kam langley was still on the team.
unfortunately, coach shumpert doesn't have that luxury...

Why is this even a thread? It is its own thread because some were blaming losses on the interim coach across multiple threads (almost every loss) and I wanted to see would their opinion be different if we had a true head coach keeping everything the same. Coach Jones was the obvious choice. Its just an opinion poll.🙂

Oleschoolaggie, you gave your opinion in the first few sentences. Let's keep this particular question to current roster and injuries. Thanks 😊

Shumpert doesn't have that luxury on this team .

Sorry, I just didn't want others to be confused, if they read your comments without reading my first post which defined certain conditions. Like I said you answered the question, but went even further to highlight other potential differences. Rereading my question, I should have said, Would "this" MBB "team" .... I wanted to keep everything the same except the coaches. I could have been clearer.

Down the stretch we loss 6 out of the last 8 regular season games. Does this change anyone's mind on whether Coach Jones would have done a much better job coaching "this team" in the CAA taking into account the same players injuries. This is strictly a curiosity poll to see what others think. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/2448

Because this team continues to revert back to TV's style of basketball even when they are playing good . Shumpert really never could change the narrative and mindset of this teams primary players . We are where we are and speaking truthfully. In My opinion we are ahead of our predicted curve .

Don't matter now.
The AD and real AD Martin screwed this program up several years ago. Hope they can right the ship with a dynamite hire to guide our program back to respectability and champions.
We will see if they have learned anything about hiring a bona-fide coach "soon".
