One quick observation: with the exception of CoC, we seem more focused and play well against the top caa teams, not so much against the other caa teams…,

We fell for the trap game.. but as a previous post said we don’t have a home crowd advantage which is why we are horrible at home.
The only thing I’m going to say about the band is that all the other schools that are participating in the botb had their pep band at their home games and we have done the BOTB in Atlanta I don’t know how many times and it has never been an issue for the pep band in previous years .. may be another reason .. not going to say anything else because asking questions about the band is worse than actually asking is Jesus alive.
The team met my goals and because Elon beat Drexel not a single thing happened in positioning. So if we was going to fall for the trap game glad this is the one. But until we get a coach that understands offense this will be our season. We can beat anyone and absolutely anyone can beat us. We just have to hope the talented team shows up and not the chaotic acrobatic falling backwards 3% chance of making the shot/pass team.

Due to A&T great 3PT shooting in the 2nd half of the last game against Drexel (60%), the team came in over confident in their 3PT shooting ability and jacked up 29 3PTers and made 7 of them. They shot well below their 3PT%. A&T had no desire to run inside plays for the bigs. Your 3 bigs (Johnson, Filmore, and Powell) took a total of 6 shots out of a total of 54 team shots. Do you hear me? Almost 50 more shots by our G/Fs. Monmouth is the worst team in CAA in PPG (57). They scored 79 against us. They are the worst 3PT% team in CAA (26%). They shot 55% today. Where was our defense? Monmouth doubled the number of points in the paint (36 to 18). They played their game.
We will live or die with this style of play. As I stated before, we are past the half point of conference play, therefore, this style is here to stay and all we can do is sit back and cheer the team on and see how many games they can win with this style in our last 7 CAA games. Fortunately for us we face only 2 teams rated higher than us, but we can't blow games like we did today to lower CAA ranked teams. With today's loss and if we lose to UNCW, we probably won't be able to finish in the top 4 but maybe hold on to the 6th spot or get 5th since Drexel lost today and has 4 more tough games.
I also asked about the Drexel game, why we only played 2 bench players in the 2nd half for a total of 3 minutes in a game you had under control? Our starters may have been warned down due to the amount of energy exerted in the Drexel game. Let the bench players get some experience so when they are called upon in crucial moments they respond accordingly. They were unable to give the team a lift today when the starters struggled because they are unprepared and under utilized. We need better bench production to advance deep into the CAA Tournament.
Also, I think the experiment of bringing Powell off the bench has failed ever since Coach explained why he prefers him coming off the bench. Powell has not scored more than 5 to 8 points since Coach's explanation.
It is fair game for us to constructively critique the players and coaches performance based on our expectations, but they are the ones playing/coaching the games. Let's see how the team bounces back from a very bad performance.

In the ole days in Moore Gym basketball games were played without a pep band and we won over 20 games a year every year. That was a given.
The students in those days were excited, enthusiastic, supportive and cheered for our team throughout the game. They also booed the opponents wildly throughout the game.
I haven't been to a live game this year but I have watched each game on Flo. I have noticed the wine and cheese student crowd at the games. They don't seem to be enthusiastic unless someone slams.
I don't even know if a pep band will fire them up.
On a more game note. We need an experienced coach to grow and improve this team. We got outplayed and out coached today.

Yes, it does not hurt us that the 5th (Drexel) and 6th (A&T) ranked teams in the CAA lost to the 2 worst teams in the CAA (Elon is 12th and Monmouth is 13th). They each had not won 1 single conference game. By the way Hofstra beats College of Charleston today as well. Three of the top 6 teams lost today with UNCW not playing today.

Some of you have mentioned your concerns of poor fan attendance and whether it would make a difference if the pep band played instead of a DJ at the games. I don't believe it matters, but I could be wrong. My thinking is due to the social media era and Covid-19 young people are use to self entertainment and learning these days. They are less publicly socialized.
Do we have stats to show average home game attendance over the last 5 to 7 years (pre & post Covid-19) which I assume had a DJ for entertainment? Then for comparison look up the average home game attendance over 5 to 7 years where the pep band was present at the game. If you see a drop-off in both groups over time then you know a change in entertainment will not help attendance. In addition, the data may show why A&T moved away from a pep band or made a mistake getting rid of the pep band. Just a thought.

The pep band days seem to be over. Even during the tournament there have been DJ’s. Heck, at many FB games there have been less playing due to commercials.
The team was on the verge of getting ran out of the Gym and we had a short window to break through but missed the 3ball.
They lost. They came back on Drexel with the 3 and defense. The 3 didn’t drop yesterday.
I think that the Team will make noise.

king rice didn't let his team fall for the okie doop. he had his team run their "set offense" for the entire game, unlike drexel. so we played "street ball" by ourselves against monmouth which is why we couldn't catch up.
woods is not himself right now. he keeps getting "double teamed" and his legs do not appear to have the "bounce" they once had. perhaps its true that he's starting to burnout. plus, teams now know that he's a "turnover waiting to happen" when he gets double teamed.
welp, on to the next game...

About student attendance
1. Where do the students sit in relation to the court? Upstairs, courtside, behind the baskets? 2. Do you know if the students are texted or emailed invite videos from the coach? 3. Is your coach using twitter to hype the team and invite fans, letting them know they are wanted and needed? 4. Does your camera give "face time" to students during TO's that end up being shown on the video board and also on tv?
Theese are some of the things I know Pat Kelsey is really good at to get CofC fans butts in seats and Takayo Siddle does as well atb UNCW, although he isn't a "natural" when he does it like Kelsey is.. Students also seem to love the face time during games. Just a few thoughts. Oh, and our pep band isn't very loud and isn't really great. Students repsond a whole lot more to a REALLY LOUD speaker system pumping hype music and stuff they like today.

The problem with woods is simple , he is Not a point guard, he is a shooter masquerading as a point guard . I have never seen a guard dribble himself into a double team 😆 Kam could see the double coming a mile away and make the pass to the open player , Wood doesn't do that . Give the ball up and work away from the double team .just don't hold the ball until your trapped.

Athletics Marketing does Twitter & IG posts, that I know of. 3. Is your coach using twitter to hype the team and invite fans, letting them know they are wanted and needed? Not that I know of. 4. Does your camera give "face time" to students during TO's that end up being shown on the video board and also on tv? Yes. Funny thing is it seems most of our students get shy when they get shown on the video board. #Smh
