Dixon and Graves are the least of our worries Is Blizzard lives up to the hype, I think we will have a solid 3-man rotation in the backfield this season. Not sure if Graves can carry the load all by himself. Dixon is the proverbial bull in a china shop but not sure if he has enough lateral quickness in tight spaces. RB's don't need lateral quickness going into the hole . It's about vertical burst and getting threw the second level . Dixon has show that he has that burst.

At some point there might be a defender in that hole to meet them. Rbs need the ability to put their foot in the ground, make a guy miss, and then quickly change direction. Tutten was a master at that. Very rarely will a RB stay on a straight line on the field all the way to the end zone. Both guys are power backs, but Graves is currently getting more carries than Dixon because he has more lateral quickness.

At Charlie Dixon’s size, once you get through the hole who do you really have to dodge? 😂
He needs to look for people to run over, not get around.

Sounds like Broadway all over again, making sure these kids understand the priorities....academics, football, and becoming better men overall. Nothing wrong with what he is doing....

The highlight of the scrimmage was a 50-plus yard touchdown run by Charlie Dixon. Broke through the line and zoomed right past the safety. That kid is a locomotive. I struggle with jumping on the "Dixon Locomotive" bandwagon. He was the 3rd option in the backfield with Tuten (easy to see why) and Graves. Each time he got a carry, he was either running backward or running parallel to the line of scrimmage. I remember when he had a promising spring game last year, and some posters on BDV were frothing about he was the Aggie Stadium Derrick Henry. I'm not so sure. I hope he does well in the fall. We'll need him. You don’t remember his plays from the Duke game? All those other games he didn’t get a chance . He got put in a taken out , of course because of one mistake , but still. He didn’t have the opportunity to do much. Tuten was the work horse . Now it’s Dixon chance

I believe (take that for what little it’s worth) the kids were fine in the classroom under Washington.
Now anything could’ve happened between the clumsy way he was fired/resigned and Coach Brown was hired. It wouldn’t be surprising that a number of players were disillusioned and got behind in the books as a result.
It’s easier for Brown to come in and kick them in the a$$ from jump than for him to let them continue to not live up to their full capabilities and responsibilities and then all of a sudden turn into robocoach on that a$$. He could very well be holding guys out who grade-wise are fully eligible but whose grades took a dip from last season.
My guess is that within the next one to two reporting cycles we’ll have decent numbers again.

Coach Brown was hired prior to the semester beginning. Washington was slack and we all know it, under Washington we never knew who was coming back in the fall due to academics.

I don’t know that Wash was slack. I hadn’t heard of any grade issues under his watch.
Now I also can’t say the grades were where the administration wanted them. Likewise, I can’t say the grades weren’t where they wanted them. Brown’s standards could very well be much higher than the school’s standards. I can’t demonize Wash for meeting the standards he was given. I can applaud Brown for wanting to exceed them though.
If you have solid information that players were failing left and right, that’s a different kettle of fish. But I don’t remember too many cats sitting out over grades.

Washington was slack and we all know it, under Washington we never knew who was coming back in the fall due to academics. I'm trying to remember. Who did we lose each year due to academics? Pretty sure it was basically the same casualty rate we had during the Broadway era. Our APR always remained above the NCAA minimum when Washington was coaching.

APR is a 4 year average which has been declining Coach isn’t harping on these things for no reason
