A&T Welcomes New Head Football Coach Vincent Brown to AggieLand!! Brown coached the CAA defensive player and defensive rookie of the year while serving as William & Mary's defensive coordinator last season.
EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T Director of Athletics Earl M. Hilton III announced Friday that he has appointed Vincent Brown to lead the Aggies football program as its new head coach. Brown becomes the 22nd head coach in program history. A&T will hold an introductory press conference for coach Brown at 1 p.m., Monday, January 9, at Deese Ballroom inside the campus Student Center. A native of Atlanta, Ga., who became a 1988 second-round draft pick of the New England Patriots and a three-time All-Pro linebacker, Brown has spent the past four seasons as William & Mary's associate head coach, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. In 2022, the Tribe went 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Tribe won a share of the regular-season title and reached the NCAA Division I-FCS playoff quarterfinals. "When going down the list of things we were looking for in a head coach as North Carolina A&T football enters the Colonial Athletic Association, Vincent Brown checked all the boxes. He will be an excellent fit for our university, our athletics department and the young men he leads. Coach Brown has a significant familiarity and understanding of what it takes to win in the Colonial. He has an extensive and proud history with HBCUs and played and coached on the NFL level. North Carolina A&T football has always been about greatness and competing for championships. We expect that winning tradition will continue with Coach Brown's experience."For the rest of the story:ncataggies.com/news/2023/1/6/a-t-welcomes-new-head-football-coach-vincent-brown-to-aggieland.aspx

I wish him and his wife, Chandra, the very best." Brown, who also served as the Tribe's associate head coach and linebackers coach, recently completed his fourth season at W&M. Do you think he will attempt to maintain defensive play-calling like Washington did when he first became head coach?

Do you think he will attempt to maintain defensive play-calling like Washington did when he first became head coach? I seriously doubt it. We're in totally new territory now. I expect him to name someone who knows his system pretty well and that he has confidence in.

I’m extremely pleased with the professionalism of the press release. It’s very informative and gets folks excited about the new era.
Only thing missing was an ask for money 😊

Good. Don’t want it to be. We are in a new zip code. Time to upgrade the mailbox and what’s in it.

Most defensive guys usually just want to pound the rock and minimize turnovers. Not sure what that means for somebody like Barnette.

I think Barnette was the main guy holding things together behind the scenes since Washington got "parted away". He kept the early signing class intact.
Would hope that he could somehow be rewarded for all his efforts during the period of uncertainty.
