How do we get it ... and is there a finder's fee for the person who actually files the lawsuit?

While I am certain the Chancellor can't come out forcefully on this topic, I'm not sure why he can't or won't plant seeds for someone to be out front on this important matter. Perhaps this is a task for our "drunk uncle"?

clearly the funds that maryland hbcu's settled with the state of maryland is definitely helping their bottom line. i've heard and seen more morgan state, bowie state, and coppin state commercials on tv and radio than i've ever heard in my 37 years of residence here since they reached the settlement.
lawd knows i wish a&t could get what it deserves from the state of north carolina...

I have a feeling about 30 seconds after we hit r1 (with the state’s help and blessing) we’ll se something.
If we can hit r1 while being owed that kind of cash, getting that money after becoming r1 puts us in hyperdrive. If we get it now we would use it primarily to help us reach r1.
Just my take.

So if we (alumni) filed a lawsuit prior to A&T getting R1 status would that potentially hurt Martin's plan?
This is why we need some type of guidance from the folks at 1601. Even if they just communicated the strategy on the low.
What do they want us to do and when do they want us to start?

No, not at all.
I’m just saying once we get that r1 there will probably be a more dedicated push if we haven’t already started the ball rolling.

Key words : Outside law firms . Be more specific. What do we need to do when we walk into these outside law firms? What are we actually asking for here? If the lawsuit is as cut and dry as it sounds like, why shouldn't we be able to get something filed in the next few months?

If the lawsuit is as cut and dry as it sounds like, why shouldn't we be able to get something filed in the next few months? BT all you have to do is reach out to the law firms that sued the state of Maryland. Even FAMU is suing the state of Florida on the behalf of 5 students. The Kirkland & Ellis firm, led by attorney Michael D. Jones, represented alumni and supporters of Maryland’s historically Black colleges and universities as they challenged systemic underfunding of the schools by the state government. After a 15-year legal and political saga, the case was settled this year when state lawmakers approved hundreds of millions of dollars in extra funding for the HBCUs in future state budgets. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading plaintiffs’ law firm Grant & Eisenhofer and noted civil rights attorney Joshua Dubin filed a class action complaint today in federal court in Florida, alleging that the state deliberately and systematically maintains a racially segregated higher-education structure that favors traditionally white schools over Historically Black Colleges & Universities, known as HBCUs.

I wonder what the criteria is to be considered a plaintiff?

I wonder what the criteria is to be considered a plaintiff? The Criteria is already set . HBCU's just have to find the representation to present the case . I don't see way the NAACP in NC has not stepped in on behalf of their HBCU institutions.

Not that difficult. Plaintiffs need to show SOME harm because of the underfunding. The lawyers will take care of the rest. LOL

That's what I struggling to figure out. What actual evidence could we show to prove harm? Does the harm have to affect the plaintiff personally?
