So Martin deserves final say huh. Lol next your gonna want Chancellor Martin to call the offensive plays because Barnette is a university employee Or what defense Coach Shumpert should run because yet again he's a university employee Or maybe he should tell the Dean of the school of business what times classes will be next semester cause remember, they also are a university employee At some point you do have to understand what's important and priority. Now, a few weeks back, they went to a competition in Charlotte that, in the grand scheme of things, was not that important. But, now, here we sit in a championship game needing all the support and help we can get and we just arbitrarily decide not to go. NOT COOL... Considering the band gives out minimal scholarships and doesn't have a recuiting budget , I think band competitions are very important to the BGMM. But I get it. Nothing else matters on Saturday but football.

That money can be used elsewhere…

You do know u can't take academic money and put it in Athletics right? You do realize we give out degrees in music right? Or that university band is a class in the fall and spring. But who cares about education.

Let’s be honest 220 people aren’t taking marching band as a class. We award what, 10 degrees in music a year 😂🤷🏾♂️😂 The college of arts and science can use that money for something else not the marching band. The college of arts and science is more than music. www.ncat.edu/cahss/index.phpJournalism, criminal justice, English, theatre arts🤷🏾♂️ UNCG has a great music department and they don’t have a 220 member marching band.

University Band is required for all freshman and sophomores. Aggie Football has won 12 championships in 121 years of football. Sat could be 13. And it's fully funded and always has been. If we funded the arts like we fund the school of business, technology and engineering we would have more music graduates instead of those black interested in music going to UNCG. Where they actually invest in the arts

So the band can’t afford to travel to GW? Did the band ask athletics for funding to make the trip to GW? Did the band ask chancellor Martin for funding to make the trip? The band travelled to one away game this year, only one…I call BS on funding being the issue.

Academic support should be something we talk about because our retention has to do with people not being able to balance school and band.

Lack of funding isn’t the issue the band was already scheduled to go to GWU. The band won’t be going anymore and it’s not because of funding.

The band could careless about supporting the football team, they chose to sit out a home game earlier this year remember they didn't want to play in the rain

$40K? I fee like he is telling a lie!
It’s not their money, they are funded and exist to support the football team…if that is not what they are going to do the school should reduce their funding.
There are better ways to spend money than on the band🤷🏾♂️
We don’t need a marching band to be honest 😂😂😂
